I'm starting a pgce in September and i need to commute from Sheffield to York. Does anybody here do this and if so what is the best way to find cheap fares?

I will be travelling 5 days a week and probably at peak times.

Any advice would be great?

You can buy a season ticket For the train from national rail, that's the cheapest way.

You should be able to get a further discount (16-25 railcard) as you will be in full time education.

Yeah i'm getting it to £250 too and that's with a rail card. It's pretty steep.

Sounds silly, but have you tried pricing Sheffield to Leeds and Leeds to York separately?

Ive not. Ive never really used the train before having driven for my job for the last 4 years. Ill look into it.

I cant use a rail card against a season ticket and thats £300 plus.
