We have an Indian sandstone patio with fubared pointing, & have looked on some websites to see how best to re-point, & what to use but there's lots of different ideas.
What's the best way to do it & the best stuff to use for longevity/durability?

Ta.

Yes. And there was an extensive thread on here a couple of months ago.

Can't put my finger on it right now though.

I think this stuff comes well recommended Rompox-Pointing-Mortar-Neutral

Its been pretty good on our Indian Sandstone patio for 11 years

Used this stuff myself a few weeks ago. I'd recommend it, also helps that is permeable so let water through. If you have an older patio this is a bonus.

And there was me thinking this was going to a bit more macabre.

Not sure if that's good or bad. I wouldv'e thought that water getting through & then freezing/thawing would cause the same problems I've got now.

But I'm no expert!

I was also thinking of putting a sealant on after It's been re-pointed.

I just went for the old fashioned and cheap method as per thread above. 3:1 mortar mix and VERY dry. Used sharp sand and not building sand so looks quite rustic and I wasn't fannying about for ages trying to get a really smooth/tidy finish.
