Is it hard to learn? Always wanted to but never got roung to it.

Bought one for the daughter a few years back, took me 3 hours just to get it to make a noise, any sort of noise.
I have an acquaintance who plays, he reckons the fingerings not too difficult but building up the jaw and tongue (embrachoure?) is the tough part, as well as the lung capacity to play sustained passages
