Tempted by a last gen (pre 2017) Burgman 400 or a Silverwing.
A few examples have come up locally at decent prices.
I've ridden a few and am happy with the compromises the design entails, but worried that the bodywork might hide a million sins; corroded frames, shagged electrics, dodgy swingarm/head bearings etc.
Without the opportunity to remove the bodywork it seems like a bit of a gamble.
I'd be interested if anyone could share their experiences of ownership.
Thanks in advance...
Haven’t owned either of those, test rode both of them, but bought the Yamaha T-max 500. The Honda was excellent, but the Yam was quicker and just felt right. I love Suzuki’s, but just didn’t get on with the Burgman.
Maxi scooters are brilliant, all day comfort, cheep-ish to run (better than a full on motorbike) and just so easy to ride.
The t-max handled superbly & is surprisingly quick for a scooter, I used it to commute approx 70 miles a day for 2 years, it never missed a beat, tyres lasted well and crucially it handled like a motorbike. Weather protection was good too.
I’d have another maxi scooter in a heartbeat.
Hope that helps.
