Thinking of moving house and one the areas we're looking at is Nailsea. Looks good for the money, very close to the country, some decent houses, schools, etc.

Anyone familiar with the area? Wondering whether there are any particularly nice/not nice areas of Nailsea of if it's all much of a muchness.

Also, we currently live in S. Bristol - Mrs Clubber works in N. Bristol - at the moment it's about a 25 min drive to Horfield/Southmead area - anyone know what the commute would be like from Nailsea - I've heard that it's ok but would be interesting to hear other real world experiences.

TIA

I spent months looking in Nailsea for a property (as you may remember) and my inlaws live there, can I be nosy and ask your budget? As that will dictate the area pretty much.

PM me if you prefer.

Have PM'd you though in summary, we've seen places dotted around it so no areas that are obviously out of budget.

Nailsea is nice. I used to live in Cleeve, and my parents still live in Backwell, and brother who lives in Nailsea. Its all a nice area, whith some not bad Pubs. Commute to Bristol would be ok, i'm sure. Though longer than i'd like to do.

If you find any good trails close to that area, post um up 😀

I'm sure Brockley woods must have some good stuff 😀

I know the area fairly well from a cycling pov - good roadie stuff and some decent CX type trails around but I think it'd still be a trip to AC for mtbing.

Everytime I cycle through Nailsea, I get lost. I think it's because every street looks exactly the same 😉

Probably but I don't particularly mind that - I feel that I can be individual enough without needing an individual house to prove the point 🙂

Same reason I have two Fords I guess...

( I get lost there too - maybe moving there is an excessive way of stopping that..)

Yay 🙂

Guess I need to buy a Saab/Audi/BMW to be more of an individual. Just like everyone else...

You'll be needing some original art from the gallery in The Mall once you've moved.

Actually, it wouldn't be my favourite town in the world...there are a lot worse around though. It'll be excellent for some good road riding. Off-road...well, what would I know?!? Though, if Missus Clubber's looking to get to Southmead, I'd try doing the route one morning and see how she finds it...I suspect it could become quite a drag.

EDIT: And certainly N Somerset is better for schools than Brizzle.

God, I know exactly the stuff you mean - it's like that sketch by Harry Enfield - the shop 'I saw you coming' 😀

The commute is a concern admittedly. It'd only be 3 days a week so maybe bearable and she's been told by colleagues who do similar that it's not too bad though I'm not entirely convinced.

The route should get better, as more of the festival way gets built.

She'd be commuting by car, unfortunately (I currently commute the other way, through Nailsea and onward and the new cycle route is brilliant)

Is the train not an option?

Heh heh. It's on one of my regular road routes, I tend to navigate by landmarks, which is tricky when you have a town with lots of housing built at the same time!

Have you thought about Yatton?

Belmont Hill across the suspension bridge, across the downs past the BUPA hospital ,Kellaway Avenue to Horfield area would not be a bad journey.Brings you out on Horfield Common above Filton Avenue
