anyone know how to get the tip of a 1/4in jack plug out of a combo jack/XLR socket?
I plugged a 1/4in jack plug into one of the inputs (combination XLR/Jack socket) on my Zoom R16 multitrack recorder; unplugged it later & the cheap plug left its tip behind
which means I'm down 1 out of 8 inputs
How are the sockets mounted?
Some slot in from the outside, with screws on the outside, some are mounted on the internal PCB (no screws on the chassis, and some are chassis mounted with flying leads - with the first one, you could unscrew it and pop it out, with the second 2 you would need to lift the top off the case and do it.
The only other way would be a long thin pair of pliers, but you'll be scrabbling around everywhere for it.
I've had the case open and they're mounted straight onto the PCB. No openings visible at the sides, so it looks like long thin pliers. I'm not bothered about losing the tip, I just want it out.

long self-tapping screw did the business
