[Closed] anyone into holga cameras?

Stumbled accross some pics taken by a holga and am quite curious, anyone know anything about them and the whole lowtech/toy camera thing?

Any links to sites with info, blogs, recomeded sellers and advice on what bits and bobs to buy would be appreciated. At the moment I'm looking at the 120 variety with plastic lens and maybe flash.

The chap who runs Holgablog used to post on STW regularly (a Mr Andrew Wilson).

I'm "into" photography. The camera bears a similar relationship to the photo as a chisel does to a Chippendale 🙂

you can make the 35mm conversion out of tape and cardboard if i remember rightly, videos on youtube .
Problem is you have to click it round 30 odd times precisely or somthing if you convert it

try here http://www.lomography.com/ and stick to the 35mm cameras for easy of cheap film developing. Oh and I use these people for that http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/lomographyfilmprocessing.html now get out and go mad with the shutter button. I have just ordered some redscale film to mess with , should produce some fun pics. Im quite taken by the mini diana 35mm , half frame and square format.
Some of my lomo stuff here http://www.pjk.fpic.co.uk/c1819555.html lomo fish eye .

I keep thinking about getting one for a bit of fun.

Of all the pictures posted here my all time favourite was taken iirc on either a Holga or a Lomo, but I might be wrong. Perhaps the photographer can repost the image and clarify.

It was a picture taken of Torre Europa and the Azca complex in Madrid from outside the Bernabéu stadium.

My sister las a camera like that, not sure which one though. I really like the pics it takes. Lots of character to them, in a retro way. She has a wierd fish eye lens too. Stragely nice pics from that IMO 🙂
She also has an old SLR and only uses B&W film. Some of her shots are in our wedding album. I really like them.

Just get an old box Brownie. Much cooler and probably better lens.

knottie8, do you think there is much diference, cost asides, between the photos taken on 35mm compared to 120?

120 can be much sharper and can be enlarged much bigger than 35mm and still be sharp. I use 120 when its going cheap in the local camera shop.

epicyclo
I use an 1903 box camera now and again . Fun but doesnt produce good clear pics. Lomo plastic lenses/shutters give unpredictable results , never the same frame by frame.

hipstamatic on the iphone is very very good 🙂

try searching out an old Zenit 35mm camera, much fun esp if you can find some out of date film!

I've got a GX680 that hasn't seen action for a few years now. Nice lens.
