Fsck me Ton, that's a man-sized scar and a half!!

Really, really glad it seems to have worked and I'm guessing that, if it has, that scar will be worth it. Plus which, you can show that off at parties and get free drinks with it!

Get well soon big man, there are trails out there that need you to ride them!

From what you said, Ton, you were a lot worse than anybody (except you) guessed for years. And you kept pushing yourself.

I think you're pretty much going to live forever, strong man. Well done, and keep it up!

That's a great result really, worth accepting a somewhat larger scar if it's got you pumping in time properly. Hope you get to ride in what's left of the summer as soon as you can .

firstly, i would like to thank everyone for all the good luck/get well wish. proper awesome everyone....

the pic above posted by druidh is not the outcome planned by my surgeon or me. and it came as a monster of a shock to wake up to it.
i went in for keyhole to remove my left atrial appendage, to stop blood pooling and reduce the risk of stroke massively.
when the surgeon went in, he saw my pulminary vein was perforated, and stopping ablations working.
he removed the sack, patched the vein, ablated me and for the 1st time in nearly 5 years in am firing on all cylinders in a proper sinus rhythm.
and hopefully will remain so.

now enough of the boring shit.........who has got a XL carbon tallboy going cheap..................

Fantastic news mate.

If I ever hear anyone on here moaning about the NHS again.....

ablated me

I know some surgeons really go the extra mile, but I didn't realise they went that far. That's going to put a smile on your face as you wake up. God bless the NHS.

Glad to hear that everything went well. Like you said no doubt a bit of a shock to wake up to a great big slice in your chest but it must feel great to know that the surgeon sorted you out.

Take it easy, for a bit at least.

Good to see the surgeon practiced using a super sharp and smooth blade to make a nice clean incision. Should be invisible when that heals up! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope the recovery goes well and you are back on the bike soon

Yay!!!! Ton - what story are you going for to explain the scar? Got to be the result wrestling a crocodile to save a damsel in distress? Or having a scimitar fight with Vladimir Putin (he cheated, obviously)

Hope you're up and about and back on the trails soon big fella
