I'm thinking of going out to the Alps solo (mate pulled out). Taking a LOT of planning using public transport.
Currently thinking of these locations (flying in/out of Geneva):
Gap (stage finish) --->Briancon (passing through)---Col Du Galibier (finish)---Alp d'Huez(finish) and then Grenoble (TT)
Is there any hope of pulling it off considering my French knowledge is tres poor?

I'm Alps bound! Gonna be hitting up Alp d'huez and the time trial in grenoble I think.
We're driving thou and planning on camping out in the mountains.
