[Closed] Anyone ever had bone surgery (Osteotomy)?

My young nephew recently broke his hand and 3 fingers in a motocross accident 6 weeks ago. The bones healed up and all seemed fine as he gained mobility back in his hand. His index finger however, became more painful as time went on. We have now found out that this finger has not aligned correctly and he has been referred to a specialist with a view to surgery to break and realign the bone.

Advice on the procedure has varied with each doctor we have seen, so just wondered if anyone has been unfortunate enough to have something like this done and how they found the procedure, how long healing time was, scaring etc?
