TBF I've always been a lightweight with beer, but these last 6 weeks have been weird. 1 small Stella bottle is ok, or a Black Sheep but whenever I've had a full 500 ml Budwar or 660 ml Stella then I've had a minging hangover during the night...

What's up with me?

Yeah same here, I’m normally Ok with drinking and not really getting a hang over. Last night was two glasses of Sauvignon and two small bottles of SAN Miguel. Woke up about 2am with a killer headache and a raging thirst.
Has happened a few times lately.

Yes - I have one every day. Can't imagine why...

Have you tried drinking clearer alcohol? Get on the gin or tequila and you'll be right*

*perhaps

Worst hangover I ever had was on one double pink gin.
Gastly.
I also find I feel crap after a few cheap beers but ok after a few nice ales.
Less chemicals maybe

Always been a lightweight, and it doesn't help I like stronger beers, but one is my absolute limit now - headache, dehydration and disturbed sleep after a pint. I'm 51 later this month - virus permitting - and I can't cope with all that.

Also less tolerant of other people being drunk around me. I don't mind tipsy and giggly, but some of the shit I've seen friends up to on social media, jeez.

I have found that home working means I drink much less water than in the office. So even not drinking beers I wake up with a serious drouth on during the night.

It could just be general dehydration?

At work I drink more water as it's any excuse not to be sat staring at a screen and also it's a habit.

Funny, I had a 4 pack of Stella delivered with a xhippy, those terrifying massive pint cans.

Only ever drank 1 a night, had a headache within half an hour of each.

Cloudy 7% craft IPA followed by a glass of red chased by a Laphroaig? No issues.

Am definitely drinking less water working from home, piss ranges from luminous (the multi-vits, I hope) to Irn Bru coloured. Have been upping my hydration last couple of days...

Could potentially be symptoms of the Corona.

Now there's no one making tea rounds I completely forget.

Not sure about everyone else but I sleep less well in general these days now I’m older so I think the sleep affecting side effects of alcohol are much more noticeable now than compared to before.

It’s almost a case of it’d be better to drink very little or a lot and not in between- if it’s inbetween then the effects of the sugar outweigh the anaesthetic effect of the alcohol and I’m awake half the night. Whereas if I got shi*faced I’ll feel crap the next day but will at least have been asleep through the night.

That said, I’m not drinking loads at the min anyway tbf

Nope. Sleep quality won't be as good and maybe a little dehydrated but otherwise fine.

Agree on the drinking less water as a result of WFH though. Really having to make the effort.

I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Totally agree with those who said that one beer made them feel rough. Since having children the hangovers have got worse, or maybe just having responsibility does it. Either way I am a month and a week off the booze today. I previously struggled to do dry Jan, dry July or sober October but this has been a breeze. I think because I simply wanted to do it.

Hmmm.....no hangovers and believe me i've tried really hard some nights just to relieve the boredom of being stuck indoors.

Should I be worried...😆🍺

I have to drink loads to get a proper hangover😑 One pint seems to suggest an almost allergic reaction.
There does appear to be some truth in the not drinking coloured drinks thing.

A study by Brown University’s Centre for Alcohol and Addiction revealed that hangovers vary on what type of alcohol you drink.

Congeners - chemical toxins produced during the fermentation process - exist in darker drinks. Bourbon has 37 times the amount of congeners as vodka.

He also said drinks which contain more impurities can give worse hangovers, including Long Island Iced Teas, which contain Gin, vodka, white rum, tequila, cointreau, Old Fashioned, which includes Bourbon, Angostura bitter, Cosmopolitan, which contains cointreau and vodka, and a Manahattan, which contains whiskey and vermouth.

Normally I'm OK with 3 or 4 pints, but Saturday night I had 1 bottle of Mad Goose and 1 bottle of Black Sheep - had a crap night's sleep and woke up overheating part way through the night

Yes.

Been putting it down to the time of year that sets off hayfever for me.

One pint and a half bottle of wine on Sunday = complete vacant plus headache on Monday.

I was really struggling with the effects of drinking (only small amounts) & was considering giving it up completely. Anyway it turns out that I had a very under active thyroid. Now that has been sorted & I am back to normal. lots of other symptoms (which I didn't connect) have gone away as well. I thought I was just getting old (which I am) & they were part of it.
