Once you get settled (preferred equipment and flavour etc) it's easy.
I have been using the same type of Battery for 2 years, and the type of same low resistance Cartomiser for about the same.
My batteries last months and months (maybe bought 2 replacements in 2 years @ £14 each)
My cartomisers last around 2 weeks and cost about £1 each.
And I get my juice (same flavour for 3 years) for £70 (half a litre)
I mix the juice my self but that really is easy, and at £4.20 for 30ml it's waaaaaaaaay cheaper than pre mixed.
That's from Decadent Vapours. And honestly, I'll say it again. Anyone using juice from the Far East, seriously, give Decadent Vapours a try. Their Juice is so much better than anything else I've used in the last few years.
(I'm not affiliated in any way, I'm just a very happy customer)
Thanks, how come you went with cartomisers & not clearomisers?
To me clearomisers seem the way to go but I'm obviously very new to this.
Cheers.
They may well be better, I've never tried them to be honest.
When I started using the Low Resistance Cartomisers 2 years ago, they were the best available.
They hold about 30 drops (2ml ish) and they taste great with my Huice and give a good throat hit (as the are Low Resistance) and they are cheap.
But they work for me, so I've never bothered changing really.
At the moment I spend roughly £3/week including Carts/Batteries/Juice. And that's been the same for the last 2 years.
So I'm not really worried about trying new kit anymore 🙂
Cool, thanks for the reply, it kind of sums up how I feel about bikes ATM 😉
I'm about £40 in arrears at the moment (not incl what I wasted on E-Lites), but with buying the kit upfront it's going to be like that for every starter. A couple of months will make a big difference financially, unless you keep buying new kit.
I considered a Variable Voltage battery, but decided to keep it simple for the time being. I only ended up with atomisers of different ohms by default, cos that's what came with the Vivi Nova. I'm a little bit sceptical at the moment that VV or dif. ohms will make that much dif. to the experience. A bit like the latest MTB stuff, is it emperors new clothes?, is it just minor tweaks that won't make that much difference?
I can see good quality liquid making a difference tho, stuff that's made to order and has to sit for a week before using, against the cheap stuff I'm buying at the moment. That'll be the next step for me.
On the subject of cartridges, I actually found the best taste/flavour was when I was refilling the E-Lite cartridges, but that was a pain, because E-Lite aren't really designed to easily refill and it was all a bit hit and miss (some E-Lite carts didn't appear to work at all, some I destroyed trying to prise the cap off). Have you tried the cartridges that came with your starter kit yet, 2unfit?
I'm a little bit sceptical at the moment that VV or dif. ohms will make that much dif. to the experience. A bit like the latest MTB stuff, is it emperors new clothes?, is it just minor tweaks that won't make that much difference?
I mixed up a few standard resistance Cartomisers in with my pot of Low Resistance ones by accident, and they look exactly the same (once out of the box)
I can instantly tell the difference when I get one out and it's standard resistance, loads less vapour, less flavour and less throat hit.
Maybe it's more noticeable with high quality juice, or different flavours. But I can't use the standard ones now I'm used to the Low Resistance ones. They are nowhere near as nice, and I can tell from the first drag.
I have, nowhere near the hit, but I'm learning. The menthol just gives the best hit ever, I have tried quite a few now & nothing gives me the sensation of the menthol for throat feel, it really does feel like smoking to me, but I appreciate it just may be me.
+1 for Decadent Vapours juice, it really is better than the competition. I've saved a fortune vaping for the past 2 years, but you do go a bit crazy when you start out and end up buying lots of 'shiny bits'.
My vote for the cigarette-style is the Liberro kit - it comes with a charging case so it negates some of the drawbacks of smaller battery size. It's got a good throat-hit and their juices are decent quality.
I'm currently really happy with the Gripper Mod and Kanger XXXL cartomisers. Nice and cheap, bog-standard batteries you can get off Ebay, and reliable. It's also pretty stealth so you can hide it in your hand when using it. I've used about 10 different devices overall, and this is by far the best I have encountered.
It takes a while to get over the weirdness of the bigger devices form-factor, but the difference in performance will eventually win you over once you realise the benefits of vaping over smoking.
I'd agree on a fitness level it is like not smoking at all. I gave up completely for 6 months, and didn't notice a difference in my riding when I went back to vaping. It does dry out your mouth though, so you have to compensate by drinking more water, or you risk becoming dehydrated.
Nealglover, is low resistance the low ohms atomiser? am I right in thinking it uses a bit more battery power?. Do you use a standard battery without VV?.
Yes the Low Resistance refers to the ohms.
I use the larger size Riva/Ego batteries (1000 mah)
It will use slightly more power I would imagine, but I still get a day and a half out of the batteries easily, and I use it a lot 🙂
My way of looking at it, I only use one type of juice, and I know what resistance Cartomiser I like, so there is little point in having a variable voltage battery.
After reading up on it and filling the wifes clearomizers for her, I'm almost tempted to try it myself and I dont even smoke hehehhe
Best not though.
Wonder how long before the gov jump on the bandwaggon and start taxing it (although we're already paying vat on them). They must be losing a fortune on cig tax revenue.
Apparently, there is some sort of UK consultation going on in May based around the marketing of ecig products.
It's possible that they will be interested in the age restriction side of it and maybe clarifying/changing the law to clearly include e-cig products. Go onto the trading Standards website and there is no mention, everything is based around 'tobacco products' and tobacco is the leaf, isn't it? this is pretty much it:
Since 1st October 2007 it is illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under 18 years of age – this includes cigarettes, cigars, roll-your-own and pipe tobacco as well as cigarette rolling papers.
It'll certainly currently be confusing for the retailer/shop assistant/trading standards officer/Police as to whether e-cigs are classed as 'tobacco products'. More than likely they are currently under the category 'common sense'. The law around tobacco product sales may have to be changed/reworded to include smoking like nicotine products or something of that nature. I bet the CPS wouldn't currently attempt to prosecute an ecig sale to a minor.
walk into my local off licence and you will see a big E-Lites counter display with all the kit, leaflets round the shop, poster in the window, probably a sales assistant stood behind the counter who isn't sure who can legally buy them. Yet, cigs are hidden from view behind a roller shutter. In these cases there may be a case to answer that e-cigs could encourage taking up smoking.
So, changing/rewording the law as per the above, will probably also subject e-cigs to the same marketing restrictions, no above or below the line advertising, warnings on packaging, no displaying in the store (post 2015), plain packaging laws (possibly in the future) etc etc
It's all speculation at the moment tho
Hey you lot, I thought I'd let yo know I bought http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/electronic-cigarette-starter-kits/microlite-ecig/tecc-microlite-cartomiser-kit-black-product.html
Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Looking forward to trying it myself after my xmas dinner.
With a bot of luck mumsie will like it too 😆
Cheers again *thumbs up*
I thought the the whole point of the last two pages of this thread were basically saying that those type of e-fags were pretty crap?
It's cool your giving it a go though 🙂

what he said
😆
Does it? It wouldn't be my summary of the thread.
Cig-O-likes have their place and suit some people. The key is that people know what is out there to be able to make an informed decision, most people don't realise what's beyond the heavier marketing of E-Lites/SkyCigs etc. Going full none cig-o-like is a bit of a leap of faith for some and not necessarily what everyone is looking for.
It'll certainly currently be confusing for the retailer/shop assistant/trading standards officer/Police as to whether e-cigs are classed as 'tobacco products'.
Not confusing really ?
There isn't any tobacco in them, so they aren't "tobacco products"
They are no more able to be classed as tobacco products than Nicorette Chewing or Nicotine Patches are.
I do hope you dident buy the total wicked juice, it tastes absolutely disgusting 😯
Nasty stuff nearly put me back on the stinky's !
Agreed, there is no way I would buy Juice from Totally Wicked (since they stopped selling Decadent Vapours stuff)
Their own stuff bloody awful.
Decadent Vapours FTW ! 😉

Exactly, hence I believe there will be some sort of restriction and/or clarification in the future. It may or may not be harmful, but is likely to be considered as indirectly promoting smoking (without any current clear age restriction). Not sure how the gum/patches will be dealt within it, if at all, but ecigs will undoubtedly be, one way or another. Possibly liquid nicotine restrictions, possibly rewording of age restriction law.
Going to buy some DV liquid in the new year to try.
i used to enjoy a menthol tipped roll up (drum gold), I used to go through 12.5 every 2/3 days. I bought a couple of those 10reasons fagalikes and was impressed, the menthol one hit the spot although I did get a dry throat occasionally.
Its been about a month now and I haven't smoked ether. I never intended to give up, I only wanted to see what it was like. Now my addiction that i'd been nurturing has deserted me and I keep finding more money in my wallet.
Not happy.
Really interesting and informative thread. Cheers
I'm tempted to go for this STARTER KIT as linked earlier via another forum.
No liquid with it so are there any good sample packs where I can try a wide variety? Looking at THIS but you have to pick a 'narrow' band of flavours.
2unfit - how did it go over Christmas and what flavour are favouring now?
ps - tried the Clearsmoke cig and had same problem as others ie. too variable a 'hit' and tasted awful. More money down the drain 😥
Woody, thanks for asking, it's going fine really. I have felt quiet unwell for the last few weeks, but so have most of my family so I'm not sure I can attribute it to that or not smoking, but I haven't had a real cig yet so touch wood something is well with the world.
I wouldn't dare to say that this is me done with B&H's finest as it has been nearly 30 years, but I do like vaping as an alternative. Some people just think it's weird but if I stop & think then smoking is weirder as that most certainly will kill me if I carry on, so it's the lesser of two evils for me.
As for the flavours, I'm really stuck with this one, during the day then menthol is fine, great throat hit & to me is a great substitute, but when I have a drink (to often)I really struggle. I know I don't really like the fruity ones, the really strong ciggy ones are a bit to much also. I quite like 'cherry cigar' from Ecig but I know there will be a flavour out there I will really like, I'm just yet to find it.
So all in all, 3 weeks, about £150 spent (including driving to get some juice) & I don't want a fag, there are times, but as I have done this for myself this time then I see no reason to start again & this has been the key for me, no pressure from others, I did this for me & I am the only person I shall let down if I start again, not to say that I haven't failed in the past before now...
There have also been some problems with the clearomisers failing (I have 6 now) & certain juices not giving me the hit I require, but I will get there, currently thinking of trying a big mod with carto's, but then the money is not the issue this time, it's finding something that works.
HTH
Cheers.
Oh, meant to say that the variable batteries & using a stupid looking clearo like a supernova improves the experience but lessons the appeal.
Cheers.
Thanks Martin. Well done and that is helpful but like you I'm struggling with flavours and I haven't even tried them yet!
I just can't get my head round 'fruit flavours' giving the same hit as tobacco but I think I'll sample the fruity and menthol ones on my link above as they seem the most popular
Trial and error I guess. Got to be worth a go as I've really started to notice the difference lately from combination of too many fags and lack of riding,
Well, the flavours are very hit or miss, but that is part of the fun right?
I have tried a few of the more expensive ones & TBH the ecig ones are better than the other ones I have tried, even the fruit one gives a better hit than a DC derived one I have.
I don't know for sure if it's the juice or the clearo giving me the problem, & that's half the thing, there is no 'best' in this game, it's to new & other factors make the difference, but e fags are better than real fags right?
There is more research coming through, but I don't think any of them will ever be deemed 'safe'.
I reckon it will cost me about £50 to get started, which is only a weeks worth of Marloboro, so has to be worth a try.
It's all very confusing with different 'strengths' as well as flavours to consider 😕
I've been using Vapourtine for the last few purchases, to sample different flavours. They're doing lots of offers on liquid at the moment. I think XMAS35 code still works till end of month on their 5mls to give 35% off listed price. They are currently promoting JAN50 disc code for 50% off 20mls till 10th jan (but for that vol you need to know what flavours you like). The only flavour I've really hated so far is energycow (redbull) which is sickly sweet.
I spent £100 2 months ago (Hardware and liquid) and roughly braking even now with loads of liquid left for another few months. I smoked about 10 a day of cheapest rolling tobacco/filters/papers.
Taken the plunge and bought :- Riva 1100 Delux Kit and some samplers from Grizwald's Gourmet Range Pick 'n' Mix with Menthol Tabac, Raspberry Truffle, Whiskey Cream, Gold Leaf, Arctic Cherry = £43.15 delivered
Will give me an idea what I like best and can then try some of the Decadent Vapours liquid once they re-open on 2nd January.
Hopefully should arrive Tuesday for Hogmanay 🙂
These things are the latest fashion in italy at the moment although people seem to be using it to feed the addition all day in the office rather than reduce the amount of normal cigarettes needed.
shame there not 240v 😉
A VERY BIG THANK YOU for the information in this thread.
Ordered a couple of deluxe kits from Vapescape just before Xmas. Arrived last Thu, Started using Thu eve and both wife and I have had no cigs at all. Both of us previously on 25-30 a day, me for 37 years :(.
I have been really (very happily) surprised at how I'm completely uninterested in cigs now. Baccy's been sitting in cupboard untouched.
After just a couple of days I noticed that horrible gurgling catch when breathing in deeply has all but gone.
Might try some other flavours but so far alternating between the HS Delight (it really does taste the way a newly opened packet of B&H smells) and Menthol sensation have been doing me fine. Hopefully my re-stock of e-liquid will be here tomorrow, as whilst I quite like the Decadent Vapours Cinnamint I preferred the others.
Can't see myself ever going back to cigs. Bloody marvelous THANK YOU.
That's great news andyh2, have you tried a sneaky fag yet?
I tried one a few weeks ago & I put it out almost straight away, tasted awful compared to a nice smooth vape. Again I will never say I'm completely off the fags until I have been a none smoker for longer than I smoked (nearly 30 years for me) but here's to many days/weeks/years trying.
Keep it up guys!
I had a few blasts on the kit I bought for my Mum and I couldn't believe how 'authentic' an experience they provide.
You get the hit at the back of the throat, the smoke (water vapour) and the nicotine buzz.
My Mum says she doesn't see no reason to buy another cig again.
Thanks again for input everyone - Impressive.
Isn't it great when STW does what it does best. I have been banned for a few days since my last 'contribution' & I was seriously considering not bothering with this forum again, but then I realised that this place is just the best resource on the net (that I have found) & threads like these help so many people It's worth the occasional dross for the warm fuzzy feeling that threads like this give & bring.
Cheers to the OP & all the contributors on this thread, & best to all those trying to give up the weed.
Not even tempted to try a 'real' fag since I started vaping 10 days ago. Vaping seems to have all the things I like about smoking and none of the things I don't like 🙂
Andyh2, feels great doesn't it !
I'm almost up to four years off the cigarettes now and have been decreasing the nicotine strength in my juice gradually and sometimes use 0% in Menthol flavour now.
I tried the E-Lite jobs a while ago. Purely because I normally buy lozenges and was getting sick of always having a horse pill under my tongue. Also, they give you (me) chronic wind 😀
The fake ciggies didn't work for me - just spent hours sooking at the damn thing with no satisfaction. But I'm now six months off the tabs, so job's a goodun. Used to go through a 12.5g pack of drum every day. Enjoyed reading the success stories!
Picked up my Riva1100 kit on Saturday from the PO, charged it up when I got home from work and haven't had a cigarette since. I did light one up yesterday morning out of habit, took two puffs and stubbed it out as it just wasn't 'nice'!
Quite remarkable really as I haven't gone 24 hours without a fag for 30 years+
Still sussing out flavours, which has been fun and a bit of a surprise, as the ones I thought would be favourites are definitely not. Raspberry truffle and whiskey cream from Grizwalds pik'n'mix are currently top of list. I have just ordered a few more samples and some Peach from Decadent Vapours.
Major bonus is that my GF, who was extremely sceptical, had a go and has now taken the spare battery and cartomisers (I've been using the clearomiser), ordered her own stuff and also hasn't had a fag since 😀
Net cost so far to us ie. deducting what we would have spent on cigs, has been about £50 but we have enough liquid for at least 2 weeks and spares for at least the next month or two. So as long as it keeps going well, break even point will be in 4 days time!
Much more important than money however, is that even in this very short space of time my lungs feel like new and (apparently) I don't wheeze or snore any more. Bloody brilliant!
Cheers to all who have given advice 😀
What a great thread, it has certainly convinced me to give it a try. Thanks everyone for the information.
Great stuff woody, it's mental to of not had a fag after so many years of smoking, keep it up 🙂
Bimbler, any idea why the mod has variable wattage as well as voltage?
Cheers.
Just received a delivery from Decadent Vapours:
Parma Violets
Irish Coffee
Rhubarb and Custard
Chocolate Bananas
Cafe Braziliano
and a free Bubblegum (not sure if accidentally or gift).
I use a Vivi Nova with 1.8ohms coil
I bought the Riva starter pack for the missus 3 weeks ago but she's not yet been in the frame of mind to "receive" it 🙁
Ar5e.
B.A.Nana I think my kits came with 2.4ohm coil, what's the pros / cons of a lower resistance one. I'd quite like an easier draw does lower resistance one give that?
Hi Andy
pros are more smoke and a touch easier to create the smoke. Cons are, it uses a bit more power. TBH I haven't particularly noticed a reduction in battery life, so it can't be that big a diff. Vivi Nova came with 3 different ohms coils 1.8, 2.4 and 2.8. I'm presuming you can get the same effect from a variable voltage battery.
Thanks B.A.Nana, I'm off to find a 1.8ohm coil then.
Bimbler, any idea why the mod has variable wattage as well as voltage?
Cheers.
The VW mode measures the resistance of the tank/cartomiser whatever and then will provide the same power (?) to deliver the hit as you like it.
So I'm using a Vivi Nova with the 2.8 Ohm head at 8.0W, once the head is done (I've not got into re-wicking yet) and I put the 1.8 ohm head onto it the Vamo measures the resistance and then ups the power to deliver the same hit. Something like that anyway, I run it in VW mode as do most other users I think.
A really great source of info on E-Cigs are the numerous you tube reviews the two best reviewers I've found are
PBusardo reviews
and
igetcha69 reviews
wotcha all,
I've had this thread bookmarked so's i could have a go (missed the clearance deals before xmas and was too tight to pay full whack). Having followed Woody's lead, it's worth knowing that the code ECR69 gets you 10% off at vapeescape - I still spent the same amount to get the free delivery, but won an extra couple of samplers for the money. Hopefully lands tomorrow - I'm new-toy excited about all this (plus it's parky, so faux-smoking indoors sounds a firm win).
Bimbler, thanks for that, I was already aware of that reviewer but had never seen his new year newbe one, so thanks again.
spasmic gherkin, any updates? it is proper cold outside 😉
spasmic gherkin, any updates? it is proper cold outside
well, hit and miss so far..
On the bright side, I've hardly smoked (a couple yesterday and monday, none on sunday), whereas I'm normally a 15-20 roll-ups per day chap. Plus my day shift rotation means I've been visiting the pub after work (also why it's taken me a day to reply). So that's all dandy, fast delivery of thursday night order, saturday morning delivery too.
Flavours I got from the tester range:
Vanilla (not much like vanilla, or very nice)
"deluxe" (fag-flavoured in theory, bearable but not one I'll be buying again)
Cherry cigar (I think someone recommended that earlier) - decided this was my favourite from the off, but what over the weekend tasted quite nice with a slightly odd after-taste now reminds me of bong water.
HS menthol sensation (Seems the winner, tastes very, very menthol, and I mixed some into the cherry cigar juice to make that bearable). Haven't had much chance to try it individually, but I suspect it's lots rougher on the throat than the others. No idea why, but terribly sore throat the last couple of days.
Usage-wise it looks like I've been getting through 1 - 1.2ml per day, though that includes trying to burn through the cherry so's i can refill the clearomiser. And having a few pints per night. And lying on the settee in the lovely warm, chain-vaping because I needn't skulk outdoors now. Decently cheap!
The clearomiser is a bit fiddly. There seems to be a secret amount of tightening onto the battery to make it work, every time I've charged the battery (and I've had one going for 2 days now without needing charging - so seems a fair capacity) it's taken a couple of minutes of doing/undoing before it suddenly starts working. I'm sure it's worked using either battery, but at the mo I can only get one of them to work.
Can't really comment on the cartomiser yet, as i decided to clean out the drip tips from the carto & clearomisers after filling all the carts in prep. The cart drip-tip fits down the plughole, be warned (or more sensible than I).
On the whole I'm impressed - not really smoking (more to the point, not wanting to)yet I can still blow smoke rings with these things! Didn't expect anywhere near so much vapour from it - virtually indistinguishable from a lungful of real, manly smoke. Feel a bit of a knob in the pub though, and the only times I've smoked have been when using the logic "if I have to go outside anyway, I may as well smoke".
If I can figure out the connection issues and find some nice flavours then I'll be fully sold. 'Til then I'll be optimistic and enthusiastic with minor, niggly doubts.
Flavours suggestions would be good, prob'ly won't be trying the fag-a-like ones again (they seemed the sensible option at first, and novelty flavours a ridiculous notion. Now I get the sense in it)
update:
vanilla: turns out not that bad (been streaming the chelsea-saints game (saints fan) and chaining for the last our or so). very null, seems to take the edge off what i presume is the nicotine taste (i know it doesn't have a taste, so read that as whatever the taste in the old niquitin inhalers was).
Also, having oddly got the other battery to work 1st time, it seems a fully charged battery gives a stronger "burny" taste - so mayhap one of those ones with variable voltage would counteract this a little.
either ho, i'm well on the way to drunk, had a cack day at work, and starving hungry, yet haven't touched the emergency stash of fags in my pocket.
the doubts are shrivelling, shrivelling i tells you
SG a couple of my Vision Ego clearomisers seemed not to work even though the battery seemed to be charged. I tried my spares and they seemed to work fine. There's a vid here which shows what might be an issue and I'm going to try this to see if it helps before I give up on them;
Flavour wise from Vape escape I alternate between HS Delight (tobacco flavour) and HS Menthol sensation. I like the Decadent Vapours mentholyptus too. With both I up the menthlness by adding a menthol crystal to the juice before putting in clearomiser.
Quite like the Grizewalds Black Cat tobacco flavour.
Quite like Dec Vap Cinnamint and Grizewalds Hypnotique too for a non menthol or tobacco change.
Didn't like the HS Storm or Grizewalds Golden Burginia tobacco flavours. It really is a suck it and see process of finding which flavours work for you.
Good luck, it's great compared to smoking isn't it>
Please read this before committing to an e cig
Thanks andhyh2, I shall look into them, I intend on trying out the other companies mentioned on the thread, and does Cinnamint have a cinnamon flavour (italics couldn't express my love of cinnamon sweets, use imagination), or am I hoping for too much? As soon as I remember where in this dive i left my needle-nose pliers, and if they're fine enough (i'm dubious, from memory, whether my cheap ones are)I shall give it a go. just tried a 2nd best of forcing a screwdriver through the top, but seems not to work.
In a brand new problem, the battery-that-didn't-work-before-but-now-does has started doing the flashy-cut-out after about half a second of pressing the button, so is next to useless, and the battery that used to work now doesn't. After the video, I presume i'm just forcing the doo-dad too far into the thingummy-wossname when i put it on charge, and mayhap the misfiring battery just needs a charge. Either who, I've been huffing on the cartomiser sans driptip all day, wondering how much juice i can inmadvertently drink before i die.
Thanks again, updates when i get them
(and yep - a funload* better than smoking)
*family friendly version
The cinnamint does have a cinnamon flavour, personally I'd have preferred stronger cinnamon taste and less sweetness to it, but I still like it.
That's what my batteries seemed to be doing, but in my case it was the clearomiser not the battery causing the problem. I tried the vid method, but my pliers aren't fine enough. Overcame the problem by pushing the tube down from the top after unscrewing the head (this bit here; http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/vision-ego-rainbow-v3-spare-heads-%28long-wick%29~390 )
To be honest I'm a bit disappointed in the faff factor. I've found that the silver bands that are top and bottom of the clearomiser come off when cleaned in boiling water, so I'm gluing those on after cleaning and drying. Likewise the threaded part of the tip. I'll just give new ones a wipe rather than the boiling water treatment. Also the flavours seem better if I keep the clearomiser fairly full. Sometimes the taste goes off as it empties.
I guess it's a bit like bike maintenance in that once you know what and when to do it it's fine, but getting to that stage can be frustrating at times.
Still much better than smoking though 🙂
I am not use it, but i consider buying one for my father.
one of my clearomisers was a bit dodgey, the clear tube being slightly loose in the silver band. if you want to continue with this, I would recommend a Vivi Nova upgrade. These are much better construction than the cheapy clearomisers and easier to refill, or a Mini Nova if you don't want such a big lump. Been using mine now for a month and using it all the time(like you was getting a bit fed up with the cheap clearo) .
I have a Viva Nova, not a bad bit of kit, but higher ohms have me rather undecided. Now rocking carto's as I dont need so much vapor now, tank systems help, I was confused about these but now embrace them.
Lets keep going guys 🙂
Has everyone still given up?
I have fancied a cig a few times this week so I thought I better buy some new kit & juice, collected it tonight & I have to say that I'm moving away from the small stuff & going all out, thought about the provari but I ended up buying an itaste mvp, big old box but it's a great piece of kit!
Hang in there folks 🙂
9 days here with no fags - ive just become a vapealot buf seriously i feel much better for it
cheers for all the advice, just about to take the mrs over to vape escape for a starter kit.she smokes about 10 - 15 a day for the past 20 years so hopefully this will help her quit, she's tried a few times but always ends up back on the tabs.will post an update, thanks again
Think I'm on my 5th month now, it's the first time I've ever stopped smoking for more than a week. I have tabacco and papers in the drawer, but can honestly say I've never even considered it.
Most recently, bought a load of cheap decadent vapours liquid in a closing down sale and just bought an eVod to sample (basically a Vivi Nova, but the wick is at the bottom of the tank)
4 years for me as of the 15th Feb 🙂
Still using the e-cigs mainly because I like them, but using 0% nic juice most of the time.
Was smoking 40 Bensons a day, and smoked for 20 years, And I've not had a single cigarette since the day my first e-cig arrived in the post.
Keep it up !!!
8 months here.............
just need to remember to keep hydrated
I thought I'd resurrect this, so I can check out your flavour recommendations.
I bit the bullet the other day and bought a Titan e cig. There's a shop opened near us just selling all manner of e-cigs, accessories and liquids. One by one the smokers in my local boozer have called in there. And the huddle outside, having a fag, has steadily diminished. They're all sat at the bar 'having a smoke' instead.
So I've joined them. Bloody hell! What a revelation! Why the hell didn't I get one of these before? Its cost me the same as a weeks B&H. I've done the weekend without a fag, and without the urge for one at all.
I've got cherry in at the moment. Think I'm going to try the lemon and lime next 😀
2 weeks in and no desire for a fag. I wish these things were invented 15 years ago!
5 weeks here and not one smoke has passed my lips , i too wishthis would have been available years ago.
utterly disgusting habit,
the electric seems the way forward i must say.
Well I'm still not smoking & looking at that banner under one of my posts on page three I appeared to of saved a few quid 🙂
I'm currently rocking Apple & grape mist from ukecig-store, not to sweet. I have noticed that my taste has changed but I'm sick of buying liquid that I don't like, it's my biggest problem with this vaping malarkey, that & all the new vaping toys I have bought, I think I have spent several hundred pounds but now I'm settled & if I were to recommend a set up for someone getting into vaping then it would be a variable voltage battery such as the ego-c twist with a mini vivi nova, big enough to last for a sensible amount of time without being to big & the vivi nova's seem to be well built & I haven't had one break or leak on me yet.
Cheers.
2unfit2ride - I think its a bloke thing. Its just something else to buy 'stuff' for. And there's nowt up with that. Old style fags seem very boring in comparison now. All the lads in the pub have been coming in with various additions and alterations to their e cigs, in all manner of wild colours and finishes 😀
binners, whats the name of the shop out of interest?
Cheers.
The shop is just called the E Cig Store. Its a nicely done out shop in the middle of Rammy. The bloke who runs it couldn't have been more helpful. They've all sorts in there! his website is
www.theecigstore.co.uk
Thanks, I already use the Totally wicked website, it would be nice to have a retail shop near me though for those panic buy moments
Cheers.
I've also struggled a bit with flavours. I started off with all the novelty flavours, tangerine, watermelon, mint, cinammon, chocolate, etc etc. Some of them keep their flavour, some I've found become flavourless after the first few vapes. Most of what I've tried have been ok, only a few I've hated ie energycow is sickly sweet. I've actually now realised that I'm not that arsed about all these different flavours, at the moment I'm just on Decadent Vapour Aromatic Tabacco.
Thankfully, I haven't got into buying all the gear in some desperate search for the holy grail, just have a few batterys and a Vivi Nova, Mini Nova and Evod (basically an upside-down Vivi).
Personally, 6 months in I haven't seen a massive financial benefit, but I wasn't a big smoker, bought cheap tabacco and probably vape more than I smoked.
They have been around for years, but just not all that widespread like they are now.
(And not as good in the early day either really)
But I got my first one in 2008 and gave up fully not long after.
My banner is looking pretty good too 🙂

neal, have you kept a record of how much you've spent on e-cig/eliquid stuff?
To be honest, saving a bit of cash would be a nice bonus. But mainly its the not dying thing that's the main priority 😀
B A Nana - I've tried a couple of different flavours, but I can see myself sticking with the tobacco
started on these last tuesday, had 2 rollies then picked up my ecig(jacvapour) from the post office, used it all day in work, and then had one rollie when I got home.
Next day I started off, broken down and asked someone from a real ciggie. that was the last full real one I've had.
Had 2 draws on saturday night around 5am. and considering it's was a mammoth session that carried on to pub shutting on saturday, i think I did not bad.
Not had a real smoke since and since tuesday, i've went from 24mg to 12mg.
Got 6 and 0mg coming tomorrow i think, so will be quickly going down through them.
Honestly never thought it would be so successful.
My wheezing stopped over night(my main motivation in stopping, only recently started feeling proper bad effects of smoking in the last 6 months or so).
Pretty much it's easy not to smoke with these, so I'm going down to 0mg and actually completely giving up. but I reckon I'll always keep it handy just incase, especially for when drinking.
No bad for someone that smoked for 17 years, without really giving up at all(I thought about it before, but I never lasted 6 hours.)
In short, they are and absolute revelation imo. 7 days, more or less(well, I'm claiming 7!
)
