I know this is a bit cheeky...

As the title really - I am looking at resourcing and figuring out what I can afford. Is a regulatory compliance project - not IT. No Agility required...

There may be 18 months in it so am looking at fixed-term too.

Thanks

Some of the oil boys I know are currently complaining that their day rates are starting to fall below £1k (I have little sympathy). No idea if that's any help whatsoever?!

We'd normally pay about £300 to £400 per day on none IT projects.

Surely it all depends on the industry?

Also, it depends on how they are employed.

The Company I work for, try to bill me out at £1800 per day, however, they will discount that depending on duration etc. I get nowhere near that by the way.

Depends on the project, experience required, location, any special skills or knowledge, loads of factors.

I'm guessing Edinburgh.

You're competing against FS for the best/expensive but decent PM's start at £300pd, but £400pd should be enough to get a few to interview.

All plus VAT and you'll need an Agency fee on top unless you advertise directly.

My OH is a non-techy PM in Edinburgh - if you want to PM me off-line with a spec I can ask her 🙂

Also, if you're public sector you've a little problem after April 2017 with contractors...

Waste procurement one I looked at was £800/day, a guy I worked with on a project was on £1k/day but that included all his expenses within the UK.

£350-£400 in Edinburgh
With a shift towards more agile working, PMs are seeing their levels of responsibility and associated remuneration diminishing in some sectors. Some in the place I'm currently working are little more than PMOs.

Very big range depending upon location and industry, as above pre/post agency fee and vat. Amnaware of major bank who has been trying to cut current fairly high rates by 40% - finding some who will stay on but many have walked/gone travelling

Happening in telecoms too. Seen a few companies cutting contractor rates across the board, a lot of walked.

I have a CRM specialist PM at the moment. He wanted £400 per day, we're paying £350/day for a 6-month contract

I'd agree with that £300 starting point, based on work I've done in construction. (I'm not a PM, btw, I just had visibility of what they cost us !). It'll go upwards from there quite rapidly if you want someone good and/or specialist.

In my world (construction) a day rate for a PM would be around 600 euros charge-out, and salary cost would be around 250 euros + CTC.

A longer term gig would be 10k euros per month charge out.

Depending on the size of the project and seniority, anything between £250 for someone 8-10 years out of uni working in water/utilities and working on their own or with a few part time engineers on the project, and £1000 for the "this is my last one before I retire" in oil and gas looking after 150+ engineers.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful as always ! I think a PMO might be a better sell upstairs.
