We were adopted just over four years ago by Ted. HE's been with us since as an outdoor cat. He'll come into the kitchen while we put food in his bowl but other than that he's either outside or in his little house we built for him.

Problem: he has what presents as conjunctivitis in his right eye and the vet won't do a video consultation "as it's eyes." So we have to take an unneutered poorly cat into the vet's.

I fear multiple contusions and lacerations - and that's just me. Plus a lot of crying and stress for poor Ted. And the vet said she has to scan him for a chip and if there is one she'll have to contact the owners. I'm not worried as a cat with danglers is unlikely to be chipped.

Has anybody successfully sorted this problem out without a trip in?

Remember to rub the cream into the end with TWO eyes.

If your worried about catching a tom to take to the vets, wait till you try and put drops in his eyes!

Give it a wipe down while you've got it in the cage. Gloves optional.

bitd - we always used cold tea and cotton wool - often wrapping the cat up in a towels for our safety.

Old tea bags here for cats and dogs with weepy eyes, usually sorted. Local vets here all open.

Years back one of ours got ring worm, we had to bath him in anti fungal solution. A lot of blood was lost by his parents....
