Yes it's a company that went tits up but had a look at the speaker as a stand alone WiFi device today and it looks and feels like a quality bit of kit. Works with Spotify connect and I'm a premium subscriber so should be all good.
Have seen some going cheap?
Yeah 50 quid.
Link?
Appliances direct. Just ordered one myself. Black and copper ones are £59 and in back order until June, white and silver are £49 and available now.

Just woke up and just about to put on a link. Was in there picking up a washing machine yesterday and spotted them. Got a fair bit of weight to it and feels like a quality bit of kit. Original reviews said the sound is excellent and with an 8 hour battery I can see it being a winner in the garden this year.
Has anyone heard one? Seen mixed reviews but they are all when it was full price against similar priced speakers, could be a bargain at this price
Possible alternative:
I built an airplay setup with an RPi Zero, a Phat DAC and some cheap speakers, but this at that price is tempting enough to replace it. Cheers OP, Ashy, and GFS.
Looks interesting - is it wifi or just bluetooth compatible & does anyone know if it has any physical inputs?

Fair few comments about the sound quality and software on there to sort through.
The gist seems to be that it's another fairly run-of -the-mill Airplay/Bluetooth speaker, that was originally way overpriced.
is it wifi or just bluetooth compatible
Wifi as well according to the appliance direct page linked to above which says:
"connect over Bluetooth or WiFi and you can stream straight from the device!"
and also
" even if your smart device goes out of WiFi range the cone will keep playing, thanks to its direct connection to Spotify over WiFi!"
The firmware has also been updated to remove the original rdio interface so it should be plug and play. I'm gonna give one a punt as the new sky router has a great range and it beats taking the laptop in the garden.
