We obviously know the route of totality but we don't know the exact topography of any given point.

Does anyone know of a good hotel with a flat roof and an unhindered view? We would hate to rent somewhere in Majorca with a bloody big hill in the way.

Having watched a total eclipse finding some where to watch from is easy. Any open space. You can check it’s not in shade the far betore

Ok it’s in the evening such is more complicated. So you need a west facing branch. There are great apps for sun direction on any day at any location

I thought this was a chance to dance nude around Stonehenge.

We live in Cataluña exactly on the line of totality so will be breaking out the funny glasses. PM me if you want accommodation with an open sky view.We have a house with a roof terrace which may be available.

Go to Majorca and rent a boat from either port Adriano or santa ponsa marina, head out towards malgrats islands. You'll get a completely unhindered view.

I bet there will also be organised boat trips you can book onto.

The sea, or somewhere high along the tramuntana mountain range is going to be the best place to see it.

I'm doing some digging about this. Concern is that across northern Spain it'll be 30-40 minutes before sunset, so unobstructed views of the western horizon are required so hilltops and plains are best (not just looking up). It looks pretty flat around Valladolid and Burgos - should it be easy to get views of the horizon around there?
