PDFs were killing my laptop - freezing it up completely resulting in me killing Acrobat everytime out of frustration. I installed an extra 1GB RAM (now 1.5G) but it does the same. Especially PDFs with graphs or diagrams in it just can't cope. Losing my rag with it.

I am on version 7 - is 8 quicker? About to try installing that

I think there is another pdf reader (freeware) that uses much less system resource. It was mentioned on here a while back, but I can't remember the name:

Googled and I think it was called this:

http://www.download.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-2079_4-10313206.html

seems to get favourable user reviews on that site.

I always wonder how Adobe got where they are given how unredeamingly awful both of the bits of their software I come across day to day are. If only Foxit made a Flash player.

think sorted this by clicking an option to always open pdfs in a new window

I use foxit to read pdf's, even though I have full Acrobat Pro installed...

Much as adobe irritates me, foxit's blurred text rendering and inability to work with hyperlinks makes it rather useless to me...
