I'm having major problems unlocking my old O2 2G iPhone.
I previously unlocked it using Pwnage tool which, after some fiddling, worked fine for months.
Then I got my Movistar 3GS and stupidly clean installed the 2G one from Mrs Flamejob's MacBook which installed 3.1.2 and 5.11 firmware.
I have tried Jail breaking it with Blackra1n, but Sn0w doesn't appear in the Blackra1n app, so I tried installing the bootloader via Cydia, but that didn't ether.
It really irks me that I now have a completely useless phone that won't work in this country (Spain)
Anyone?
O2 have started issueing unlock codes.
3.2.1 Firmware? I thought 3.1.2 was the latest.

Yeah... that's what I wrote 😉 (Typo)
You could try this guide, but some have had issues with connectivity afterwards:

Yeah thanks Jamie/Jam bo; I tried EVERYTHING. It was very frustrating.
I just completed that form; I can't believe it! S w e e t !
I think the unlocking was inevitable once other providers had the iPhone. Which'll upset the yanks even more, 'cos they've still only got the one provider. Maybe they'll start trying to buy up old O2 phones to unlock them... 😀
You think the Yanks have it bad?
Here in Spain there are three pay bands for internet access (I am on the lowest- €9/month 200MB) and countless call packages depending on when and who you call. It's like being back in last century.
So I pay about €35 a month for 10 min a DAY (no rollovers) and limited internet access and the phone cost €230. Ouch.
The IPhone cartel continues in the UK. Vodafone are entering the market now, but are refusing to lower the minimum price of £30 a month contracts - although they do point out that they expect their network coverage to be tip top. I have to be connected to the internet over a mobile for work, but otherwise my normal mobile phone contract has been going down significantly the last two years, to an average of £15 a month including calls.

To be fair, the phone networks have hardly no margins on the iPhones themselves due to Apple knowing people will pay full price for the handset.
Does anyone know if Vodafone will offer the iPhone as a pay-as-you go or sim free option?
