The click clack plug on our bath is leaking. On closer inspection the rubber seal has hardened over time and looks knackered

No problem, measure with verniers and order a new seal. I seem to need 43 mm x 28 mm. And this size doesn’t seem to exist anywhere!

I’ve measured the plug hole (ie OD) at just over 42mm, and the ID at 30mm

Ive tried all the usual online places, local places and even emailed a few plumb trade companies, with no joy.

Am I missing something obvious?

I would replace the whole plug unit but it’s in a free standing bath that’s flush with the ground so I suspect replacing the whole thing will be a pain

Normal plug isn’t an option, as it’s right where my left cheek sits when I’m in the bath!

Not sure what brand it is, the plug is embossed with a (left) footprint.

Though the one on my bath is a very soft silicone rubber.

Thanks- will give that one a try. Might be too big and wedge between the outlet and metal plug top bit though?

Not sure to be honest. I did wonder whether the reason you can't find the exact size is because your existing one has shrunk in response to heat or cleaning products (although in my experience rubber seals tend to swell).

You can sometimes shrink them a bit in boiling water.

Some plugs (cheap ones if my bathroom is any clue) use a sort of silicone rubber skirt for the seal, so some overlap is desired. The more water in the bath, the greater the downward pressure on the plug and the better the resulting seal.

The seals all seem to be different in the click clacks. I tried a new seal but it kept catching so ended up buying a replacement unit. Don't soak it in vinegar like I did it perished.
