If I did Excel online would it automatically work/convert if someone sent me a spreadsheet to fill in?
My boss sends me my timesheet in which I enter my start/finish times & the formula 'should' subtract those from my annualised hours total. (I'm contracted to do 1020.5 hrs a year, which I should enter at the top of the sheet then when I enter the hours I've done each day, the total drops accordingly, I send it back to the boss to check/approve)
I've tried both Apache Open office & Libre to convert the spreadsheet but neither accept the formula!
I asked a related question earlier this year but didn't then know about Excel online.

When you tried Apache Open Office Calc, did you know that it uses slightly different syntax to Excel? For example, in some formulas, Calc uses a semi-colon where Excel uses a comma. See here.

No I didn't but I thought I'd tried everything. With Excel the time needs to be input as say, 06:45. Do you mean it may have to be 06;45 or 06.45 (or something?)
yes it will work just fine. I'm pretty sure if you sign up for a free OneDrive account you will be able to open an Excel file in a browser. I do it all the time but with the paid version. I think the free version is the same - you just don't get the desktop apps with it
anyway, it's free so try it
edit: the only thing that won't work is if the spreadsheet has any funny build in macros as they won't run online. In that case the filename will end .xlsm rather than .xlsx so it should be easy to spot
