We will be in touch
so my back is playing up and sending pain down my left leg now!
was referred to the specialist a few months back. since then it had become worse.
what i want to know is will tramadol space me out? will i be ok to drive whist on them (it say you MAY be able to drive) more importantly will the drugs effect me being to ride correctly?
(50mg 1 tab 4 times a day)
They affect people in different ways. I am fine on them can drive play sport etc. 4 a day is too many IMO as you can become addicted to them. Take them only as and when needed.
I had some in Hospital recently & it completely spaced me out, wasn't a fan - they prescribed me some after I left in case of pain, but after my experience I didn't touch it - not sure what dosage they gave me or if it was combined effects with other drugs (I was on oromorph (spelling?) as well)
Given how it made me feel I wouldn't drive on it & it gave me an idea of how Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights came about...
Sounds like sciatica
Have a go at this - it should help as much as the pills
Good luck
decent painkiller
makes some quite drowsy
makes some a bit sick
makes some (quite a few young blokes IME) barking mad
make v sure you aren't one of the "special" responders before you get in a car
i was planing on taking them when i needed them. i dont want to become immune to them
50mg is hefty dose
it will probably make you tired and they frequently give "toilet troubles"
im going to my mrs house tonight so i will take one then.
also the dr said it was sciatica
my mates bought back boxes of them from india for recreational purposes. made them all a bit dim, short term! 🙄
I used it when I had a slipped disk, shortly before I had surgery to correct it. (4 years ago now) No problems since but regular gym/core exercise etc.
The Tramadol was really strong stuff, I found. I was only given it when things got really bad. I couldn't stand/walk without severe pain. Hardly slept in weeks and in tears for no reason a lot of the time. So when I got it it was a god send, started sleeping better and was able to be more mobile. I can't remember the dose, but I never took more than was prescribed. I didn't have any side effects as such but wouldn't have driven while taking it even if I was physically able to.
I took it for a month while waiting for the surgery then stopped but I did feel like I wanted to take them at night because they whacked me out and I knew they would give me a good nights rest. That was the worrying bit, long term use I bet they would be really addictive.
Hope you get sorted soon. I think physio will help you loads but if it gets worse and surgery does become an option don't worry about it. It seems like a scary thing to begin with but it's not a bad procedure. When I woke up and the drugs had cleared out of my system, no pain. It was such a relief.
I had some after my last op could feel a thing but it was like somone turned the lights of in my head. Horrible.
I used it for a fair time for my hip... As an alternative to crippling pain, there was a lot to be said for it. I didn't get spaced out exactly, no altered states or anything, but it definately took a chunk off my IQ.
I was also on a strong codeine dose at times, and found that a lot worse- not as effective as a painkiller, and much more numbing.
Tramadol can be horrible.
A dirty compound pretending to be an opiate. Any idea why he gave you tramadol rather than codeine/DHC?
That said, the alternatives aren't going to be any better in terms of drowsiness.
