Jut had 16 of my lot do a BMX session at the National Cycling Centre for a little over a fiver each.

Coaches, kit and bikes included.

Brilliant value and fun. They all came out better cyclist too.

Interesting, how long was the session for? My wifes' Brownie Pack would probably love to do this!

Excellent - velodrome next?

Has your County got a dedicated bike team? A mate of mine runs the Derbyshire Scout bike team, he's suggested I might want to help at Peak 2020 jamboree. They used to keep some of the bikes and kit up at Gradbach, so not that far from your area.

An hour. After that they were knackered.

Lots of crashes and a few bumps, bruises and tears, but they were all buzzing at the end of it.

After that they spent half an hour running about in the big yellow tube thing outside.

You'll be able to tear about Dirt factory soon - already have kids jump bikes and scooters for hire - played around there for two hours on Tuesday - on a trail bike....

Hi Harry, I'm a cub leader but SW based. I'm interested to know how challenging the risk assessment is for an activity like this?

No challenge at all. The NCC already have a risk assessment. They sent it to us and we sent it to District.

The only thing we had to add was a line about getting there under your own steam.

Presumably if you are buying in someone else's services/facilities, the risk assessment is their problem, you just double-check it?

Exactly. We hired everything, including the coaches (who were excellent) so all of the risk was on them.

I wouldn't dream of taking them to a municipal track under my risk!

MCTD- We're taking our Scouts to Gradbach for a week this summer do you know if any of the equipment is available for other areas?

Thanks

Neil
