So a hot dry summer coupled with a mammoth Chafer grub infestation has ruined parts of my lawn.
A mate at work has suggested I don’t bother re-seeding until spring. He reasoned that my new fresh grass will just serve to feed the Chafer grubs when they start moving again, but if I hang on they’ll have nothing to feed on so should eventually starve & diminish. Anyone any thoughts?
I’ve been using nematodes for years now and frankly, they’re snake oil. I’ve seen no difference whatsoever to my lawn and I still have roughly 100 grubs per spade full of soil.

Put a chafer beetle trap up in Spring next year, then reseed in the late summer.
Hope that badgers don't pay a visit in the meantime 🙂
I have the same chafer grub problem and a local and appreciative badger population too. Lawn is a disaster. I'm playing the long game and hoping that I am allowed to give up on lawn aspirations and turn the worst bit into a pump track next year.
Get some chickens, they’ll soon sort out the grubs (but you’ll probably have no lawn)
Badgers, foxes, crows & magpies - we’ve got the lot. I’ve been to Zoos with smaller populations.
I’ve never heard of a chafer beetle trap; I tend to pirouette around the garden wildly swinging with a badminton racket (they really fly off one of those).
