So the metal thread has emphasised that my little in-ear headphones are rubbish.
I could do with some noise-cancelling ones, ideally "over-ear" for all day comfort when sitting at my desk. I like the idea of wireless blue-tooth ones to satisfy my wireless tidiness OCD. But, the glitch is that I don't like spending money.

Any recommendations?

I have a set of Bose QC25s. Not wireless, and certainly not cheap, but they're bloody good! They look so classy; people will imagine you're listening to Mozart when you're actually listening to Motorhead.

Based on my thread here:

I got some AKG K451.

Very happy with them, economically priced.

i'm currently rocking a pair of Sennheiser hd201's

not 'noise cancelling' as such, but they're basically the same as PPE ear-defenders, so it's very quiet in here.

the sound quality is at least half decent, and they cost £20.

Anything from Sennheiser, would avoid wireless if its sound quality that matters.

KRK KNS6400 here. not noise cancelling, I don't think, but marketed as studio quality so should do something in that ilk. £80

next band practice (Sunday) I'll be using them to listen to the click track, so if I can hear that over my kit, a bass and two electric guitars, I think they'll do

Anything from Sennheiser

I paid about 80e for a set on that basis, got them home realised they were very disappointing and took them back with my old Sennheisers. The sales assistant was at first reluctant to exchange as the packaging showed signs of opening (how else would I know they were really "thin" on treble and "boomy" on bass) but I insisted she listen. Once she had listened she agreed to an exchange and even opened some boxes for me to try others. I left with much cheaper Sennheiser HD 238s which are OK but bettered by:

On the next attempt I went into a local hi-fi shop, tried everything and left with Grado SR80s which are excellent in quiet places where there is no-one to annoy.

The next headphones needed to be better sealed and portable so I read an STW thread and found a shop selling the AKG K451. Remarkable value for money.
