[Closed] Any experiences of children going to a new ‘sapling’ secondary school?

My son is currently in year 6 (last year) of primary school. In September he will be going to a new secondary school which is being built at the moment. It will be a completely new school and will only have a year 7 for the first year.
We went to a meeting with the new head of the school last night and it all looks and sounds good and we were reassured about a few doubts we had.
Has anyone else put their children into a completely new school? If so, how did it go?
Any regrets, unexpected benefits etc?
It’s worth pointing out that the new head is currently head of a nearby school and will run them both. As the new school will only have about 50-60 children in it for the first year some of the teaching staff will be borrowed from the head’s existing school. It’s a very good school so we are happy that experienced staff will be in place.

Completely different context, I know, but I went to one myself.

We LOVED it, and I remember resenting the kids who came in behind us, because we felt that they had invaded OUR school.

Don’t worry about it. Hopefully your son will love the experience.

My younger brothers both went to a similar school, one joined in Yr8, the other Yr7. I don't think they had any issues it was a great school.

I guess the lack of older peers is the major difference...probably both a pro and con depending on what the kids are like...

I guess the biggest issue will be with recruiting new staff each year as thecnumbers grow, will they be able to get good staff in shortage areas?
