Long shot, but here we go.
I have a Nook simple that refuses to wake up basically. The lock screen is on but it won't let me get to the screen where I can swipe to unlock. I've tried charging it via PC and plug for around 8 hour in each so it's not a charge problem and it holds charge as the lock screen is visible.
The PC recognises it and sees the files contained within so I don't think it's completely shot.
Any ideas on fixes? The solutions offered by Google have not worked so far.

Wife had very similar problem with a Kobo Touch. She emailed Kobo and they gave her a reset method. It took a few goes but it works now.
I'd email the manufacturer
