Bosch dishwasher has thrown a wobbly. When you go to start it it trips the circuit board for the kitchen. I took out the filters and it hasn't fully drained properly. Cleaned out all the water and several bits of debris, lemon pips and the like and soaked up the standing water with a towel. Was hoping that would sort it, but still trips.
Any ideas what to try next, don't have the manual and when I type the model number into the Bosch site it doesn't return and results. Sgv53e13gb/86
Am I better off just getting a new one? Don't want to spend on expensive call outs for it just to break again, Age is unknown but it looks newish. Our old dishwasher was still going strong after a decade....
so it's not pumping out and it's trying to draw a load of current tripping the breaker?
speculation, but my guess is pump motor. if it was the motor brushes badly worn it just wouldn't pump, it wouldn't trip the breaker. if there is a problem with the insulation breaking down on the winding this will create a short, causing it to pull loads of current.
bin i suspect. sorry.
take the back off there is a drain motor on the rhs.
The drain motor will have burnt out it brushes i will bet and is shorting out. Something will have been stuck in it.
in my case a piece of cinemon stick got past and burnt it out .
Same symptoms. Triping the breaker and not draining.
How much was the part to fix? There was loads of crap yammed in there so likely
Tilt it back 45degrees? Does A shit load of water come out?
If so, get Bosch out, tell them you would like it written off and see if they'll do a replacement offer.
I got a new one delivered, fitted and the old one took away for not very much at all. Apparently its a fault with where the metal and plastic are bonded.
How old was it?
I imagine if I could get it out water would tip out as the pump well is full of water. I managed to get it to turn on and start a programme, pumped water in for about a minute then shorted. Makes me think a seal has gone and the water is getting in somewhere it shouldn't?
Should probably stop buggering around with it....
There is a known problem with Bosch (and probably others since most look as though they're made in the same factory) where water starts leaking from the pump connections and pools in the undertray. IIRC there's a float switch which eventually seizes up and things stop working. It's a PITA as a DIY fix so probably get an engineer in or get a new one.
Funnily enough I have my Bosch logixx dishwasher in bits in the kitchen as we speak. It's easy to remove the drain pump. You can take off the drain pump cover inside the bottom filter housing and see if it's jammed before taking out. Normally a sensor will shut the unit down if it's not draining. If it blew the CB I think it's more likely that the heater element has gone open circuit. Easy to test if you can get to it. On mine it sits in the base underneath. The hardest bit is removing the outer panels. Everything else just unclips.
Dont you have a wife g/f they should have beeen trained into washing the pots.
We had a Whirlpool DW that stopped draining. Checked all round the no-return flap and the pump impeller and there was a few pips etc but nothing causing the problem. Eventually spotted a broken plastic clip off a DW cleaner thing the OH uses that had gone up the labyrinth of drain tubes up the side and got stuck at the top, restricting the flow so the pump could not fully clear the water.
Caused the bottom to keep flooding and so it would trip off.
Quick wash out and service as normal until the control board finally went.
Mine was 5 years old.
Part was 25 quid
Real simple fix. 2 jubilee clips and 2 spade connections and an earth wire ring to attach.
