Went to the new dentist today with the two kids, 16 and 12 and he wants me to make an appointment to get tooth sealant for them. The old dentist never mentioned this and TBH it is the first time I have ever even heard of it, is it recommended and what are the pros and cons? Cheers for any input.
No dentists mountainbike?
its quite normal. I do it all the time. Should be completely non destructive, - ie etch the surface to get good grip then a paint on white / clear cover to fill in all the pits and fissures.
Providing no decay its a great way to reduce the chance of getting decay in the teeth.
generally i tend to do it on younger children when the teeth are coming through - but it will do them no harm if done older.

Thanks I am a bit happier about it as both them came home last night and said their mates have had it done so it would appear quite common. Cheers Mark
Some of them contain BPA, which may or may not be of concern. Whether or not it's worse than mercury in fillings, who knows!!!
