Just wondered how you find it. I've been involved in medical device manufacturing at various levels over the years, from the shop floor to lab work and internal audits. Not done it for a while now, but the oil & gas industry looks to be heading for an extended rough patch and I'm not all that happy about the impending forced changes to my Ts & Cs, namely a minimum of 20% increase in time away from my family.
I've booked on a BSI lead auditor course after recommendations from an old colleague, but I'm wondering how exactly how I might go about finding auditing work. Obviously I've got input from my previous workplaces, but just wondering how folk in the wider world find and manage the workload.
20% increase in time away from my family
auditing might not be your best option - loads we use are away 2-3 nights a week
2-3 nights at a time I can do. Somewhere between 22 and 30 nights at a time I cannot.
Just registering my interest in how this goes.
You'll need experience after the course to become an auditor. Will your employer let you conduct external audits to gain experience?
IME most accreditation auditors have years of experience as well as specific knowledge.
Not my current employer as they're nothing to do with medical devices, but a previous one has said they could put a few of theirs my way to gain some experience. Obviously wearing their hat at the time.
How's it gone with this?
