See if you can track down footage of his last ever "race" It's the Goodwood festival jobby where the grid was old bikes, lots of ex pro racers and everyone giving it some beans. The man's a legend and a racer to the very end.

I had the dubious honour of getting In Barry Sheene's way on two occasions during the 80s when Silverstone's pit lane was open to the general public during unofficial practice. Have a few pics and paintings of the great man but unfortunately it'll be Monday before I can dig them out. Happy to email them if you're interested.

I sat and talked to him for quite a while at the Dutch TT in 85 ish
he was doing a piece for Aussie TV about Wayne Gardener and we were there as guests of Honda

I knew his dad Franco from when he supplied bikes and bits around the race paddocks so it was an easy to introduce myself to him
really nice guy and funny too

See if you can track down footage of his last ever "race"

Old enough to have been at his last actual race, photo's somewhere in a box... 1984 I think?

Them were the days - Yamaha RD250E, Doc Martins, paddock jacket and pin-strip jeans

Racer, entertainer, hyper. A photograph without a fag hanging out of his mouth should be dismissed as not representative.

Thanks for the link. I really like your website layout, unless it's my phone the page with the tunnocks was not loading properly. You have some really nice work, thanks for sharing it. I'm currently working on a graphite commission for an advert. I have not painted for a while, please share your Barry Sheene painting once it's done.

Just a few from the archives:

The last one is a reasonably hi-res painting. Also have a few pics of Sheene's DAF Suzuki in the pits from 81/82.
