at risk of turning the chat forum into an episode of the antiques roadshow here's another "how much?" thread!
I picked this up at a charity shop a few years ago, it was in pretty good condition but missing the bridge and the metal inlay was sitting proud, I had it professionally repaired by an old fella who passed away not long ago, he told me after he worked on it that if I ever wanted to sell it he'd have it off me in a shot, missed the boat there didn't I!
anyway, I can't play it, I'm a guitarist and this thing just confuses me!
so as part of MrNutt's Grand Old Hard Time Sell Off I'm gonna put this up for grabs:
I'd say your best bet would be to go into a local music shop and get them to have a look at it.
to be honest they are all a bit "stairway" to be of any use! 😀
Eeerm, is that a fretless neck? Is that normal? I know nothing about banjos, but never seen a fretless one.
i should imagine that a fretless banjo would sound rather niche
yep its fretless, hence its a Banja, the early banjos were fretless and yep its niche as niche can banjo be.
Gerrit dahyn Denmark St, innit?
Looks nice - needs dusting though.

They're known as 'Clawhammer' style banjos I believe.
first person to offer me £100 or over has it, I'm needy!
Probably a bargain that - if I hadn't just got a 2nd hand Pignose travel guitar off ebay, I'd have given it a whirl. Sadly, instruments, unlike bike parts, cannot be hidden from Mrs UR in the garage.
first person to offer me £100 or over has it
I'm guessing the first person might not offer over...
I have been interested in having a banjo but unfortunately no funds for it right now - looks quite an instrument and I would have thought a bit more of a challenge being fretless.
