I have a photo of my daughter playing sport that I'd like converted to a drawing (along with a bit of minor editing, which would be easy - read on)
Not looking for masses of detail, might be an easy job for someone with skillz, i don't know. I'm looking stylistically at the illustrations by Beate Kubitz that adorn the ride reports in the paper mag, like these here.
Anyone interested - email in profile.
you got mail.

Bumping - not that trailhounds response isn't good, just that timings are not going to work.

I'm sure Beate would be happy to oblige if you asked her? She was out riding with us last night, and we were discussing her watercolours. I do commissions, but my style is about as far away from hers as its possible to get. I'm nowhere near as good!
Have you tried getting in touch with Beate Kubitz directly?
Much nicer to have an original by the artist you like than by someone doing something in the style of that artist.
[edit]
Beaten to it by Binners whilst checking out her work, which is lovely by the way.

I consider commissions (and I'm keen on producing bike related art currently) but my style is also miles away from Kubitz's - I do photorealistic pencil art.. I agree that it's not easy to ask an artist to replicate a style of another artist. Good luck in finding someone though.

Ps , cheers for thinking of me Therag!
Your stuff is incredible Mark! The work that goes into it is staggering!
Hello, that's me. I'm sure Binners is about a thousand times better than me and those pencil drawings are awesome but if you're after watercolours I can give it a shot. I'll mail you if you haven't found anyone. Beate
Bit of a different style, but this is my GF and she does commisions.
Mark Jesus decking hill that is some skillz.
I'm in touch with Beate now, and thanks also for various others who have contacted me offering.
I wasn't specifically asking someone to copy Beate's work - which i also think is stunning btw - I have a different subject matter, that I'm not sure marries as well to the fantastic landscape effects Beate gets into her work. Hence why I'm interested in something stylistically similar, not necessarily the same, and while I'm very glad Beate has made contact, I'm not "100% it has to be Beate or not at all"
I also don't have a huge budget hence why talented amateurs are also interesting.
Thanks Binners and Swedishmatt! Patience is a virtue! ๐
I'd love a bit of original artwork featuring my kids and bikes, can't quite get my head around the detail of Marks ( with a pencil ) and Beate stuff is fantastic. Must have been skiving when they handed out artistic ability, find myself in awe of anyone that can do that stuff.
I love both Mark's and Beate's stuff, for different reasons. One is so detailed, the other is the opposite, the detail's been removed but the overall image is just stunning. That's what I want in my commission, because the image I want painted takes me back to such a happy moment I want something that captures that rather than the detail of the image. The photo doesn't do it because there's too much extra in there like bystanders, out of place advertising boards, etc.
Does that make sense? Should i write a column in the Observer and grow a pointy beard?
Funny business this art stuff having never seen Mark or Beate's stuff I'm now fixated on a piece by Mark (like the cog one) but my kids riding down the tread of a tyre and one of Beate's of my kids riding through the trees in the local wood with all the bluebells in the background..
Well - they're both active on this thread (Beate is Clover up there ^) so you can contact them if you like.
Just if Beate has the time (and I have the funds) to take on a non-biking piece, get in the queue behind me.
Uwe; have emailed your wife as well
theotherjonv - you know what they say 'if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it' if I based it on a comment Mark made on his site about how long he spent doing the outline to that picture, I could probably afford to pay him to sharpen his pencil. No doubt the work that goes into Beate's stuff would put it beyond my limits.....just daydreaming really oh and polluting your thread with useless waffle
Christ some of you are gifted I feel utterly talentless.
