Had a Sony STR DB-930 amp since new 8 yrs old never missed a single beat, never been played loud as far too powerful on 5:1 DTS
Last night our cute Pug PI**ED on it..

When into PROTECTOR mode...
Took it out cleaned it,dusted it and hair dryered it LOL
Pluged back in no inputs or speaker afixd then BINGO worked no PROCTETOR popped up.

There are far to many circuits on a board with silly little resistors to go down to make an informed choice, my guess is it's FUBAR, that should cover it, best of luck with a fix though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've got a new Sony amp hooked up in a spare room. PROTECT used to turn itself on quite regularly, I did a bit of digging, and it's often caused by shorting. In my case it was one of the speaker cables.

Oh come on, water/piss & electrics don't fair well, if it helps & your stuck I probably have a DD amp I could give you if your skint.
I'm not posting the thing for free though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Edit, try turning it back on with one speaker connected at a time, that will at least narrow it down a bit.
