'tis the season of plumbing problems.
Our hot water tap in the kitchen has been playing up the last few days, turn it on and you only get a trickle of hot water, turn it further on and the water stops. Now it doesn't work at all.
We have a combi boiler, all other hot taps in the house still work fine. The tap feels like it opens, if that makes sense, and opening it sometimes means a few drips come out but nothing more. It's a mixer tap, but with separate hot and cold taps, cold works fine.
It's a rented house so we can just call the agents, but sometimes it's less hassle to try and fix these things yourself.
Ideas?
see if it has a flow straightner on the outlet, these sometimes get debris and scale in them. Failing that it sounds like a strip down to see if anything in the tap itself or a failure of the cartridge.
Doesn't appear to be any way to isolate the kitchen tap without turning off the mains stopcock. Not sure I want to turn that off and drain water without really knowing what the problem is. Will have to wait and call the letting agents.
Found isolating valve, took out cartridge which was in two bit, reassembled, job done.
