The guy that used the russian roulette scene from Deerhunter on the Revels ad is a genius.

sequence? I love the cut, and the idea in 2001 where the ape throws up a bone into the air and it cuts to a (fairly bone shaped) white orbiting spacecraft. It's human evolution in one cut. Perfect.

Last 2 minutes or so of Garden State. So what do we do?

In the movie " withnail & I" I always thought the sequence where they set off in the old jag to monty's country cottage with jimi Hendrix "all along the watchtower" as the soundtrack is a classic sequence in the movie, perfect bit of cinematography from the shot of withnail shouting "slappers" at the schoolgirls to Paul Mann flipping his shades down to Danny's piss test passer sequence, it's all classic viewing.

I suppose the Bohemian Rhapsody car scene in Wayne's World is another one.

That's a quality bit Somafunk. That'll be "Scrubbers". really memorable then!

Luke meeting his mum in her Car in Cool Hand Luke and then playing his banjo :(. Rutger Hauers improvised speech in Blade Runner death scene. The bit in One Flew Over The Cookoos nest where Randall takes the "nuts" out on the boat 🙂

Oops....that'll be the 3 whisky's i've had t'night, or was it 4?....it gets confusing after the first, admittingly rather damn large measures hic!......."scrubbers" it is then - we're all in agreement! 🙂

The entire movie is quotable, and we've often attempted to work our way through it quoting word for word wi the sound turned down whilst playing the Withnail drinking n' drugs game, never managed it yet in 22 yrs of trying.

The bit in Léon where Stansfield heads up to Mathilda's parents' flat with his cronies and starts shooting the place up.

The final battle scene in "300". Nice use of slow motion limb lopping.

Agree with the Pulp Fiction scene, although I would expand it to include that whole section, including the "mmmm that is a tasty burger" and "say "what" one more time, I dare you...".

Pulp Fiction has so many great scenes in it.

I agree with that opening scene in Leon as well.

The end sequence of Seven..."we got a box..."

Taking a cue from last night: The opening scene in Inglorious Basterds - IMO one of the best scenes in modern cinema.

Off the top of my head:

Toy story 3 when Andy is handing over his toys to the little girl at the end.

Opening sequence of once apon a time in the west.
Photographic framing and cinematic tension with great sound.

The end of Frankenheimers 'The Train' where the boxes of looted art are juxtaposed with the dead POW's and the Nazi officers mocking Labiche(Burt Lancaster) about appreciation of Art.

Just realised both these clips use the sound of Steam trains, (I'm not a train spotter! )

Saving Private Ryan opening scene, and the stairwell scene towards the end. Agree with Pulp Fiction, so many in that film though, Marcelus Wallace's post-bumming speech, Christopher Walken etc etc.

The scene in Crank where 'The Stathe' is driving like a lunatic to keep his heart rate up because of the poison. The way it's edited slow/fast and with the matching ringtone.

As above, The opening scene to Saving Private Ryan.
Also, Roy Batty's closing speech is brilliant.

So many more though worthy of a mention.
Trains planes and automobiles when they're driving between two lorries and Steve Martin looks across to see John Candy in a devil suit.

Of course i knew that but after a few whiskys the keyboard looks odd, especially when your typing on an iphone screen

Pulp Fiction and SLJ's biblical speech for me. I also love the scene in The Dark Knight where the Joker introduces himself to the mobs and makes the pen "vanish" but I'm biased as I think Heath Ledgers performance in that film is in my opinion one of the greatest of all-time in making a character believable.

I love long single shot sequences

The start of Touch of Evil

The start of The Player (in which the characters discuss the start of Touch of Evil)

The pool party in BoogieNights (included the camera going underwater.

The bit in Goodfellas where they enter the nightclub through the kitchens

The final chase through the train station in Carlitos Way

All awesome

True Romance when Walken interrogates Hopper.

There's some great scenes in The Godfather
There's one where Brando is ordering a hit and goes into detail of how they must use people that show restraint because "we're not murderers"

I like a lot of Michael Manns shots of skylines and shots of cities at night.

The ending of the Wild Bunch, Pekcinpah really started the ball rolling.

The over matched scene in No country is brilliant.

Neve Campbell pulling down Denise Richards knickers in Wild Things has to rate as one of the sexiest scenes ever.

One scene I've always loved, was the one in Raiders Of The Lost Ark, where Indy comes up against the huge Egyptian with the sword, twirling it around, grinning maniacally, then Indy just shrugs, pulls his gun and shoots him!
Remember seeing it for the first time, and the whole cinema cheered!

Final sequence of back to the future 1. Marty waiting in the delorean that won't start, doc trying to reach the cable at the top of the clock tower. The music by Alan Silvestri just punches that 5 minute sequence. Brilliant.

The sequence from The Sound of Music when the father starts to warm to Maria and agrees to sing a song, and then sings "Edelweiss".

Love that bit. *sniff*

Do you know the reason that scene ended up like that? Apparently, everyone on set, including Harrison Ford, was suffering with a does of the runs and basically that was Ford's way of saying "let's get this over with as quickly as possible". So I heard, anyway. May be rubbish.

Just re watched this film recently.

2:40 - onwards

I always loved the opening of Desparado when Steve Buscemi's character walks into the bar & describes Antonio Banderas shooting up the other bar.

The opening titles of Zombieland - gross & hilarious with a side of Metallica.

The opening of Trainspotting as well.

The coin toss sequence in 'No Country For Old Men' is great.
Also, the part in 'Platoon' where the marines enter the village and it kicks off starting the rift between Barnes and Elias.
