So yesterday I parked my car and paid the correct fee. I parked outside of a bay (simply because I am fed up with the doors getting dinged) but it was parked in a bay adjoining a wall - parked half out of the bay and nearer to the wall (so I wasn't using another parking space or causing an obstruction). I feel slightly aggrieved at getting the fine because it seems silly to fine me when the parking wasn't inconsiderate or causing another space to be unusable or anything like that.
Any point in arguing the fine?
private or council.

Council - South Kesteven.
Yes, in this case no doubt about it - appeal. The attendents have targets to meet so they give out daft tickets, I suspect if the fine is appealed it doesn't get knocked off their tally so no downside for them.
Be careful what you write as an excuse though. They'll have photos of your car from every conceivable angle (e.g. you probably can't blame it on someone parked badly next to you.)
Normally you can "get off" a parking fine where the Council have not done something right e.g. insufficient signage, faded lines, etc. In this case, even as silly as it sounds, they probably have you bang to rights as the instruction "park fully within a marked bay" no doubt features prominently on their signage. No harm contesting it (provided that doesn't cost you anything) but I doubt you'll get anywhere unfortunately.I feel slightly aggrieved at getting the fine because it seems silly to fine me when the parking wasn't inconsiderate or causing another space to be unusable or anything like that.
Why was it not a space, if you can park a car in it? Presumably they'll have an answer you don't know, and they'll use that to uphold it.
I'd contest it.
Take a pic, explain why you parked where you did and that you were out of position but it makes no difference to spaces around you as the direction you were biased over to had no space there to obstruct (which is presumably why they say you have to stay in the space.
South Kesteven......same council area I fall into.

You couldn't park a car in a space, I simply went out of the final space and closer to the wall (and the remaining space wasn't marked as pedestrian access or anything).

I was there on business - we're redesigning the SK District Council website 🙂

The frickin' carpark's empty, you could have parked anywhere!
