I thought the chances were reasonably high. But Farage's stock has been falling fast after getting so upset about people asking why he's been pocketing millions in political "gifts" without telling anyone (including those who have been voting for him). So with him looking "just like other politicians" (which means just like someone such as Boris Johnson, not Andy Burnham)... along comes Restore pretending to stand up for the white working class. Votes going from Reform to the left and the right.
Everyone must have Burnham fatigue already. A big speech on one of the biggest issues in the country and no chat on here. Maybe he needs to slow down a bit?
FT are reporting that Burnham has bottled the land value tax already.

At this point I'm convinced that some people will just whinge because it's Labour, whatever they do. Taxes are going up, "oh my god, we can't afford that, cost of living, broken Britain!" Taxes are going down, "well, where's the money coming from then, this is unfunded!" Taxes are staying the same, "well, he's not doing anything!!"

Very brave to take this on, lets be honest oldies(amd we'll all be old one day) are going to have to pay more tax , and rich old ones at that, the spectator/mail/telegraph are going to go bananas

On Social Care... he's not actually said anything worth discussing. It is a mess? Yes, we all know that. Are big changes needed? Yes, we all know that. Does there need to be some kind of political consensus for the long term changes needed? Yes, we all know that.
WHAT IS HE ACTUALLY PROPOSING?
It's great that he's bumping it up the news agenda, and trying to get other parties involved... but it'll be worth talking about once something is actually proposed. All options for raising the funds will be ripped apart by the media on contact with daylight... at that point we'll see how "brave" this endeavour is going to be. And then there's staffing...
I listened to it this morning and it was quite surreal. We’re not used to having politicians being reasonable and collegiate and actually instigating a discussion about something important in order to actually do something about it, rather than just blaming somebody else for it all being shite.
I can see the Lib Dems getting on board and Kemi and the right wing press behaving like petulant toddlers
Speaking of which… Apparently Farage has gone absolutely nuts because he wasn’t invited to contribute. Obviously the entire world has reminded him that after his latest little stunt, he isn’t even an MP 😂
Davey is well worth listening to on the subject of care. I can see Badenoch seizing on any opportunity to turn the oldies against Labour and the Lib Dems... so there will be reasonable words at first... and then the Tories will paint any changes to funding or taxation as an evil left wing grab at the savings and homes of the comfortably off pensioners.
Andy Burnham and Ed Davey seem to be in broad agreement about tackling this and both seem passionate about sorting it, that delivers a parliamentary majority that renders whatever Kemi an co think about it completely irrelevant
Assuming those two have a parliamentary between them that lasts past the next general election... (come on Britain, you can sort this... it's your choice).

I've had the election leaflets and if I was interviewing for the post on the basis of their "CVs", Bev is the only candidate I would take seriously. And I'm not generally a Labour voter.
