Got a Pixel 6a a week or so ago. Needed to do some OS and security updates out of the box.

Added a second user so I can compartmentalize my work and personal stuff but the phone is generally unresponsive and crashes/restarts periodically when using the second user account.
The only "obvious" thing I can see is an update notification which seems stalled at approx 1/3rd complete. The phone seems to run hot when using the second user, so it seems the processor is doing something...

There's tons of storage available, and there's a solid internet connection so I'm ruling out space or connection issues.

Anyone any ideas? eg can the update be skipped or rolled back (can't see any such options in the Settings UI)

not sure about multiple issues, doesnt sound like it should be behaving like that..

however.. there should be no need for multiple profiles, i have all my work stuff in work mode, which i turn off, i believe it can be automated..
i dont know how you do this standalone, as i admin our comapny IT i deploy MDM to all devices and compartmentalize al lwork data and apps.
On my smasung i had a work and personal tab on the apps screen etc so i could flick between, on my Huawei(sp) the apps have a little briefcase symbol i nthe corner, or are greyed out when work is turned off
I'd be looking at sertting my stuff up like that if i were you

Can you delete the second profile and try again? I'm guessing once you installed all the update the phone was restarted? Once the second user was created, has the phone been restarted?
Does seem a bit odd that an update hasn't completed, so it might be getting tied up trying to resolve that.

My Pixel 6a couldn't access Singletrack or eBay websites out of the box & took 2 or 3 weeks before it "settled down" and behaved.

I'm doing this "unofficially" - work don't actually have Android Enterprise so I'm not offered a Personal + Work profile.

Anyway, I've deleted the second user for now - will try again when I'm less busy and I'm confident that no updates are needed/underway.

Well, there's an awful lot of configuration options that I have no idea what they are for or whether it's worthwhile switching them on or off. I suspect it was something to do with aggressive power savings so I need to get my head around those options...

Literally after smartphone on the market will have thousands of questions being asked about it somewhere on the 'net.

Yes, the pixels are bloody good mobiles imo.

I didn't know this was even possible and I've been wanting to set up a profile for my daughter. Working well so far (P4a) thanks
