I'm trying to get to grips with my new HTC Desire (bought here a few days ago) and am currently sorting music ready to take away on holiday tomorrow.

I have everything on Itunes at the moment and have set up doubletwist on my PC and phone.

doubletwist is working ok but I am finding it pretty clunky and not that great compared to Itunes which is what I'm used to. I have the majority of music sorted on the phone well enough to use while I'm away but am wondering if using Windows Media player would be any better?

It seems that doubletwist works best when used in conjunction with a existing piece of software like Itunes or media player so wil I find converting my Itunes Library to Mp3 and then just use media player any easier?

The phone is unlocked but loaded up with Orange stuff so isn't on the latest Android OS (2.2?) and I'm totaly lost as far as flashing the phone to use the latest version so no point me looking into anything which relies on the latest Android OS.

Any suggestions or tips?

Ta.

Is there an iTunesMyWalkman release for windows? It's good on OSX for this problem.

Personally I'd just drag & drop what I wanted onto the phone at an Explorer level, unless there's something preventing you from doing that (has iTunes done something creative with your music library to stop you doing that?)

I have just got my new HTC desire delievered and a slight hijack! I'm having problems putting music on full stop. I have all my music in i tunes already (from my ipod). How do I get it onto the phone? when my phone is plugged in it isn't recognised as the "removeable f drive" ... can anyone help me??? please. I've tried to google it but nothing useful to help me.

The phone doesn't automount, if you look at the home screen there should be a message in the top bar asking if you want to connect it or not.
Once connected, just copy the music over to the music directory.

Edit: home screen of the phone.
Edit 2: it'll still charge even if you don't mount it.

Thanks for the ideas. Didn't think about the drag and drop.

Doubletwist is 'nearly' there but I do miss the slick operation of Itunes. doubletwist take an age to scan through my Itunes folder. It seems like , an eternity to copy music onto the phone en masse as I founf last night when I draged 11gb over. I know this is a lot but after an hour and a half I left the computer running last night when I went to bed.

Luckily I don't have too much music that is DRM protected so that's a fairly easy part.

I was afraid I'd have little issues like this when switching from an Ipod Touch, it's made all the worse by not being able to listen to BBC radio through the BBC Iplayer, ho hum.

Munque-chick, as Mogrim has said, plug the phone in and click the phone screen option to mount it as a removeable drive. I've just tried on mine and the PC allows me to open up the F drive no problme with no jiggery-pokery.

Phone. You have to mount the memory cards with Android phones for the PC to see it.

EDIT: Oh, and +1 for drag and drop.

verses, I have myplayer but it ony works for tv programmes not radio. I've found no way to use the listen again feature or basic Iplayer to listen to past radio shows and it seems that the BBC's plans to develop an app for this have been shelved as part of the current spending review.

I believe that users with the latest Android OS can use the regular BBC Iplayer website but as I'm on an older version (the current Orange edition) I get tantalisingly close to the final webpage to then get a non-compatibility message.

*EDIT*
verses, I stand corrected, just tried myplayer again including downloading the latest update and now have Kutski's Radio 1 show from last weekend playing, result!
