Any users? Is it as good as the concept promises to be?

I played with it -very- briefly.  It was a bastard to get to connect and sluggish in use, but this may just have been down to the piece of shit Samsung phone I was using.  I got a new phone this week, I'll try again and report back at some point.

Tried it on a sportage with a Motorola G4.

Gave up on it in the end, slow with constant disconnections. It's easier just to connect to Bluetooth and use the phone normally(obviously when parked/before setting off)

Apparently it's very fussy about cables so much so that I tried 4 with 2 different phones, none worked.

I use it in my Seat Leon, with my Samsung S7. It works fine, doesn't always automatically link up but it's only a couple of taps to correct that.

I use Google Maps and Amazon Music the most, along with phone calls and it can read WhatsApp messages and take replies by voice. Noticed the other day that Plex works too so I should be able to stream stuff from my NAS at home too.

Biggest negative for me is that you can't play anything stored on the phone's SD card via USB or Bluetooth whilst Android Auto is connected.

Excellent in my A-class - no connection issues with Sony Xperia phone.

I use it for Google Maps and Spotify and find the voice control excellent with both.

Used it in a mate's Kuga and it seems to work well.

Love it, there is a 'design flaw' with my unit that means it thinks you are driving when parked so never gives you an onscreen keyboard, but apart from that its great.

Real time traffic on google maps is fantastic and it really does work to stop you from being tempted to use your phone. (even more so if you put the USB socket in the glovebox 🙂 )

Thinking of an aftermarket head unit.

Use it all the time in my focus, highly recommended especially for the google search by voice.

Thats what I got, Sony XAV-AX100.  Actually looks fairly well built with good on screen menus, unlike the nasty Pioneer things.

However, it relies on the phone sat nav, and Google have decided to use the inbuilt head unit navigation to determine when the car is stopped and the headunit can allow full functionality (such as manually searching for a Spotify track rather than recent/recommended.  As the Sony doesn't have it inbuilt, Google defaults the unit to 'driving' all the time.

There is a newer version of the AX100, might be worth a google to see if they've addressed that issue.

Did you wire it in yourself? I put a (crap) satnav unit in a while ago, I had to buy a canbus adapter so the unit knew my speed from the car, and stuff like when the lights were on.

I've got it on my Superb, really like it, not at gimmick at all.

With maps the voice recognition is amazing, if your driving to a business or point of interest it gets it from just the name and town within a second, even in France with my dodgy prenounciation. On the in car sat Nav it takes minutes to program manually and voice control is flakey. If you previously checked the route on your phone or pc it will be there to select.

It will read out SMS and Hangout messages and you can dictate answers back, again the voice recognition is scary good.

Haven't used it much for playing music as I usually listen to radio, in France in played 5 Live via TuneIn radio no issue at all.

It's very dependent on the car (or aftermarket unit) ime. Fords work very well ime. A hire car I had (sorry can't recall what brand) was awful.

I think it's good. I wouldn't buy a car without i reckon

Use it all the time

Google maps - gives me traffic, will reroute based on traffic

Waze - run it in the background and it gives you speed camera and traffic

Spotify - quite good.  If you are online and other people use the same account the car goes nuts and shows the track changes that the other user does.  Even when on radio in the car.

Voice - really good, couple of weird ones where unable to get spotify to select the right album/artist.  Dictate texts, etc.

Whatsapp / FB messenger - messages can be read out and replied to

Annoying - they used to lock the selection of stuff from the screen, saying you are driving - however it was my passenger doing it!!!!  They have changed it to say "concentrate on road" and that times out after about 10 seconds.  Still annoying, but less so.   Need to use voice instead.

It cost me £150 in my skoda octavia and is worth every single penny.
