Me and Mrs Grips are feeling a bit low.. she's tense because baby Grips has been ill and she's not had much sleep. So I was thinking of bunking off this afternoon for something fun and relaxing.

So far I was thinking of:

The seaside (although it's not warm or sunny)
London for a mooch about: some shops, the Eye, the kids' museum, the zoo etc

Got any more ideas?

Kew Gardens is good it will be fairly quiet today, have a walk around Richmond, up to Richmond Hill then into the park to get the view of town and see some deer, Camber Sands & Rye or Brighton if you are off to the seaside...

Another vote for Kew. In fact, what about a boat trip up the river to Kew? Lots of fun!

I just mis-read the title as skydiving in the south east, I reckon you should do that

I had thought of Kew actually. Boat trip could be fun too.

Richmond is also very cool actually, having been in and out a couple of times with a mate (ooer). Nothing specific, just loads of nice houses, cafes, shops, and posh women 🙂

Should also add that we don't have bikes or particularly stout shoes or pushchair, so countryside walks are out.

If you want to do gardens, RHS Wisley might be closer than Kew? Obviously Richmond is further away from there though.

You could do a walk up that notable SE beauty spot, Leith Hill. Wouldn't really need particularly stout shoes or anything. No hidden agenda with that one!

Have a little pootle down to Bushey Park and a walk around the grounds at Hampton Court Palace, cross the bridge and there are a number of cafes one called Five at the Bridge that does some lovely specials. There are a number of nice little antique and other shops on that road. If she is really stressed out you might want to take the littlun off for a walk and book her into here http://www.inharmonyspiritbalance.co.uk/ for a little massage or something (it's on the same road as the cafe). in fact if you can spring for a rose facial there and potter off for an hour while she has it I reckon you will score about a million brownie points.

Not bad ideas.. btw we will be starting from Bracknell, possibly (likely) by train.

Btw, are there any particularly special book shops that you know about?

As in Foyles (the famous tardis-like store in Londinium), Waterstones et al?
