working in holland the noo

going to arnhem to the war museums and battlefields on saturday

then coming back up the road to den helder thinking we might pop in to amsterdam for a few sherbets - how ever most town centre hostels/hotels are min 2 nights and are 40 quid a night - there are 5 of us.

anyone know of any hotels/hostels that are out side the centre that are still accessable by public transport during the night that dont look for 2 nights min or are not 40 quid a night (40 quid for 1 night is acceptable - 80 squid is not ! - we aint looking for the ritz )

not looking to go out and get pished just a few jars and to say we have been to/seen amsterdam

failing that we will drive home after (we do have a non drinker who can drive but after last weekends fiasco in alkmaar where one of our number was left behind and ended up staying at a random fella he met while roaming the streets we know how much of a disaster that is ! )

cheers m`dears

We stayed at a Best Western on Apollolaan for Queen's Day recently.

A short hop from the centre by tram, nice cafes and bars around. It's nothing spectacular but might be in your budget - not sure you'll get it for £40 a night though...decent breakfasts and clean rooms with showers that worked fine.

Have stayed here before: http://www.hostels.com/hostels/amsterdam/euphemia-hotel/647

Basic but clean and quiet (at least it was a few years back!). They have rooms for up to 4 people.

😯

Jeez, sorry, dude...we booked a load of rooms so got a bit of a discount. Didn't realise it would be that pricey at short notice. Why don't you try tripadvisor?

Bear in mind that parking anywhere near town is prohibitively expensive. I saw lots of hostels there when we visited.

I was going to say Hans Brinker, but looks like Saturday is all booked up, looks like Sunday would only be £26 each!!

Worth noting for next time maybe?

With 5 of you surely you can all chip in and rent a hooker for the night. I am sure they will have a bed.

Uptown or Downtown? there are 2 flying pigs in Amsterdam.

actually - just had a look, they recommend an alternative:

St Christopher's at The Winston, Amsterdam, Netherlands

5 Bed Private Ensuite: £36.
