Since when did Amazon make it impossible to buy an Audible version of a book on the iPad/Phone App? It's a PITA having to order it via the website rather than straight off the device - a first world problem I know but surely a retrograde step!

You've never been able to purchase on the app and yes it is a pain.
Just put the desktop version in your favourites. You can add to wishlist via the app and then switch over to purchase.

You’ve never been able to. If you were able to purchase in the app Apple would take a slice which Amazon objects to.
