Listening to Snowflakes are dancing (Tomita's versions of Debussy tunes) and I am really enjoying Golliwog's Cakewalk.

You've used the word racialist. So yes.

No idea.  But not because you like that LP.  It is an amazing album BTW.  First heard it 20 years ago and is still a firm favourite. Seems oddly timeless for synthesised instruments and never loses it's charm.

Every now and then I dive back into my old library of stuff I digitised from vinyl and CD and occasionally I am suprised by how good some of it still is.

On the other hand I'm having trouble with understanding  my love for some Jefferson Starship.

Here is the Debussy:

Anyone who listens to that kind of music, needs to be lined up against a wall and shot with one of these.

What kind of music is it exactly? eddiebaby is usually a (various types of) heavy rock fan iirc. So what this twee bit of plinky plonk squelch parp is doing in his collection is beyond me. I wouldN'T shoot him for it though.

It's a bit like the sort of thing they'd have on Playschool as the soundtrack to an animated piece featuring the stuffed toys. [edit]Wasn't one of those a gollywog?)

Here's my "am I a racialist?" bit... watched The Cowboys (classic John Wayne from 1972) and found this scene hilarious

I listen to a heck of a lot of stuff. I got 'serious' about music in the late 60s. That's 50 years of listening to a wide range of things that mean I can enjoy the Macarena and Las Ketchup as much as Crippled Black Phoenix and King Crimson. And Jazz (but not trad!) and Classical and musicals and punk and and and and and and and.

A couple of years back someone mentioned Miley Cyrus' Backyard Sessions - I love that too and some Taylor Swift and a bit of Kurt Vile and Those Damn Crows and King Tubby and Neil young and Jason Mraz and why only listen to one type of music?

That would drive me mad.

I confess to normally skipping that track, it doesnt do either Debussy or Tomita any credit IMO.  I've often wondered why he chose to translate that particular piece on such a collection.

For those whose heads are exploded have another go (or not) preferably at night on the cans on a cold night in front of the fire and with a giant beaker of rum.  The synthesised strains of  'Clair de Lune' sparkle like snow dust in a soft mountain breeze as the ice clinks in your glass, briefly disturbing your faithful hound.  He stretches, rolls and and then snores at your feet on the sheepskin rug.  You wonder if it's worth a trudge to the village?  Through the still, creaking, freshly-fallen snow?  To collect a hot takeout? No it isn't.  Or maybe it is.  A log crackles on the fire and collapses.  You pit on another, decide to go for a home-made cheese toastie with some tabasco.  Sleep comes soon.

Curiously, I don't mind Goliiwog's Cakewalk on piano.

I didn't know Tomita, but when I was about 14 I spent an awful lot of time listening to The Well Tempered Synthesiser by Wendy (then Walter) Carlos and loved it.  Just listening to it again, and love it still.

Now that I have been introduced to Debussy ... I like Debussy too ... 😀

Put it this way me mates used to try to convince me to listen to Kitaro ... give me strength that is bloody boring.

Couldn’t have put it better myself! It’s like 8-bit game music. I do like a bit of Debussy, though, especially Claire de Lune. Never liked Walter Carlos or any synth ‘pop’ music, but I did get into a lot of Krautrock around that time, after hearing Tangerine Dream on a BBC broadcast from Germany, hosted by Jimmy Saville, of all people! Went down to Virgin Records tiny little shop in Bristol and bought Ziet, their double album, then a few others like Amon Düül II, Mythos, and Faust, plus some later TD like Ricochet.

Prefer King Crimson, though.

Me too. Just got the massive Thrak 40th Anniversart box set. Worth the price for the extended Mexico gig discs alone.

Crikey I have been listening to Tomita for the past two days ... bloody spooky music but somewhat soothing 😀

Then stumbled on Tangerine Dream - one night in space: live at the Alte Oper Frankfurt(2007) ... rather good but a bit loud.  😀  (look at the female drummer ... ya baby ya ... hit them drums hard ... ya!)
