Sat watching day 2 of the Tour whilst nursing a fractured fibula, I hear a helicopter. I went and had a look out the conservatory and there, flying, was a yellow HAR3 Westland Seaking. I don’t know if I’m losing it or not, but wasn’t aware that there was any left in service. Was nice to see and hear (engines seemed a tad smoky) but it was heading north towards Kendal. Is it a privateer helicopter now?

Up on Beachy Head today and had a Spitfire charge over, pull a big banked turn over Eastbourne and then a barrel roll over the Head again, had to do a bit of a double take as presumed most if not all were in museums by now. Know chuff all about planes though so could have been something which looks like one...

Quite possible, there are quite a few still flying. The RAF battle of Britain flight for starters and several in private hands.

*Edit, a quick Google suggests 60 airworthy Spitfires worldwide, of which 30 are in the UK. More than I thought!

Shows how little I know about aeroplanes then! Further Google search reveals you can pay for it

https://flyaspitfire.com/45-minute-beachy-head-spitfire-flight

A mere £4K.

Spitfire over Littleborough today, came from Huddersfield direction, did a loop over Rochdale then headed off towards Oldham. Love that sound.

My neighbour had Hurricane until 2 years ago. Brilliant to hear it fired up of a morning.

A yellow Sea King might have been G-SKNG, see www.historichelicopters.com

Their website says it was spotted over Warrington today

A mere 4K.... yikes. As much as that does sound amazing. I think theres a similar one running out of Goodwood as we see it flying around Arundel etc most days.

My workmate sent his father, a Spitfire anorsk, up in one for his 90th birthday. Think it cost him about 3 grand for a 30 min or so flight and a nose around the workshop, which apparently he was more interested in.

@Greybeard, that's interesting, we saw what looked like a yellow sea king over Telford in Shropshire earlier today...

@Greybeard, thanks. I guess it was that one, by the time I’d got my act together it was beyond reading the reg.

Just had our second double Spitfire flyover of the morning. Looks like they're en route to Moray now.

I was rather hoping this thread would be from the person who asked for some mushrooms to be identified before eating them...

There’s four at Goodwood and another 6-8 at Lee on the Solent airport (former HMNAS Daedalus)
