Hi all,
Use Skype quite a bit to chat to my girlfriend in Germany, but the quality is often a bit dodgy, glitchy video and audio keeps cutting out. My internet connection isn't the greatest, but figured we may as well try an alternative.
So, any recommendations? Free please. I'm on Windows, she's on Mac.

you could try the Logitech webcam setup, but must admit when Im using it from the USA the picture quality is better than skype but the Audio can break down very easy, I find with skype the picture is not as good but the audio hangs on and generally does not drop out like logitech does.
Google chat or hangouts. Facebook messenger has a video option.

I use Skype on a daily basis and don't have problems, not even through the mobile.
Yep, as above, sounds like a connection issue.
Skype's a godsend when I'm away. Used on both laptop and tablet, video and calls. Never had any problems, apart from when I've been in places with sub-optimal connection!
