Evening all,

We are a Dell shop for everything, but recently they suck, with some iffy hardware design and shocking account management.

Looking at alternatives and wondering if any of the assembled IT managers would care to offer suggestions as to whether any of the usual suspects suck less?

As a willy waving show off exercise we have Latitude 7480 as standard issue and Dell SC4020 storage if that helps as to where we are at.

Please feel free to flame as necessary.

Apple for users and Synology for storage. Really mix it up.

But in all seriousness Apple generally have a good hardware record which reduces TCO as they last longer. The issue might be if you're a Windows house is that software move over to them etc.

If I was buying kit now I'd probably be looking at lenovo or maybe Stone if we needed to save some pennies.

Lenovo is my preferred - none of the recent desk or laptops I've bought from them have caused any problems, they just *work*.

I've a couple (home and work) HP laptops that are a copy of a macbook pro, and they are brilliant. Problem is the other three HP's have either terrible design/ergonomics or are flimsy plastic.

As above, Lenovo is my go to for hassle free. Hate HP with a passion. Toshiba are ok too

Lenevo standard issue at our place, but the recent laptops with the offset trackpad drive me mad. Constantly right clicking instead of left.

If you’re a business user and are buying a couple I’m happy to help you on a professional basis - can audit your software match hardware to purpose etc.

Thanks all, looks like I'll have to wade through the usual suspects snake oil..

A minion has mentioned that Lenovo doesn't play well with SCCM? Anyone suggest otherwise??

P-Jay, thanks for the offer but have to do it through public sector procurement stuff.
