Not seen the Netflix film yet as I don't currently have a subscription, but it inspired me to read the book.
Words can't quite describe it. You just have to read it. Anyway, highly recommend and available on kindle for 99p at the moment.
The netflix film is the 3rd film im aware of. Its prooerly harrowing and feels like the book.

Yes, both are incredible. Both really worth setting time aside for, very sobering.
The book and 1930 film are excellent.
Netflix film was terrible and completely inaccurate.
I gave up when they were bailing out their massive trench with buckets.

The forgotten soldier by Guy Sajer is the true story of a young Frenchman in the German army fighting on the Eastern front in WW2, if you’re having a shit day, reading this will bring things back into perspective for you!
The film was immense. Very sobering, and at times very raw and dark.

Ah, but not as "fictional" as anythig by Sven Hassel.
The book All quiet... was a fave 40 years ago and I still dig it out. Prefer the first film though.
