I've re-enacted the moment.
I still don't believe you. That's not Floodland by Sisters of Mercy. It's 30 by A Dell.
... either that or The Knack's "My Peroni."
Statistically speaking surely ontop of the item it controls is the worst location for a remote control. Its the one location you never need it.

Well hardly. Inside a cat, or in a foundry in a different time zone would be worse, or even just slightly out of range of working would be worse, Shirley.
Well said Reeksy, maybe I should add to the disproportionately cross thread but whenever anyone says something like 'There's nothing worse than....' and then adds at worst a mild annoyance (finding the supermarket has run out of the larger sized box of tea bags) I always want to start listing out things that really fit the nothing worse category. I can be quite dark with that which doesn't always land well, and anyway how was I to know that your granny actually did have an onlyfans channel.
Besides, I haven't the foggiest how to work my hi-fi using the minimalist couple of buttons and a dial on the front. Having the remote control next to it is vital (I can also use a phone app so remote can stay right where it is)

I think thats probably the second best Rube Goldberg machine I've seen today. Also the only Rube Goldberg machine I'm likely to see today.

Within sensible parameters. It should be either... The place you stand the most or, at the furthest point within the zone of usability. Thus minimising the potential walking required for any given situation.

Not sure fans and some ashes are going to be the best combination.
Clearly AI.
D'ya think?
Floodland is one of the finest pop Goth Rock albums ever recorded.
I used "pop" on purpose. Floodland is where the rock was thrown out (unlike their earlier stuff before all the rock musicians left)... it's electropop with black makeup. And it's gorgeous. And I flipping love it. Played loud while driving it's a proper singalong number. You could absolutely play some songs from that album back to back with Abba classics at a wedding...
The track involved in Operation Laptop Destruction was The Temple of Love, but I agree with you about Floodland.
Will put it on tonight, after I've taken suitable precautions.
Temple of Love
Now that IS Goth Rock. Not that any of this matters.
I killed my work laptop with an espresso. It was a very good machine as well. I miss it, and its huge screen. I had no one else to blame. Still angry at myself a year later.

Could you blame Lucy Worsley?

Unless you're at the opposite end of the zone of usability in which case you have just doubled your movement requirement. Also, with such outdated tech you still have to be at the hifi to manually put the CD in (as was the case in this example) so can grab the remote while you're there.
And, yes, I do occasionally put the TV remote next to the TV when I turn it off on an evening.

No, no, no. 'Get it on' was T-Rex.

Don't be daft, how could a T-Rex use a CD player with those useless little arms, never mind whack one off over a certain famous female anatomist?

It was actually revealed yesterday on the news that the T-Rex had little arms, because he had a big head...
It had better be good after all this waffle
Wasn't my thing to be honest - Spotify is randomly playing songs now based on it, E&tB, The Killing Moon has just been on, much more like it, followed by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Spellbound. Might keep this random playlist going
I have now discovered Type O Negative who I had NEVER listened to before and am quite liking
