So it looks like I'm going to have to move out for a while.
The issue is, my job is not really secure past March next year.
So should I airbnb (which costs about 40% more than renting but is easier to cancel/flexible) or should I go for a 1 year flat rent (do you lose your whole deposit if you cancel the contract say halfway through?) It's been a long time since I rented.
Thanks
almost all rental leases are 6 months nowadays.
Airbnb includes all your bills though? That's got to add up?
Although not really legit i booked an airbnb for a weekend met the owner and tested it out then offered to take it for 3 months off airbnb at a cheaper rate ( home owner saves airbnb cut so win win.)
Houseshare would be easier if you don't need much space?
Organising a flat is pretty simple for 6 months, I found a couple of agents wouldn't do it last time I rented but ignore them and go elsewhere. Once your 6 months is up you can go to a rolling contract where you have to give 1 months notice and the landlord has to give 2. (From rent due date, so it can be two months if you give notice just afterwards)
Best way of doing it I think - and no your deposit has nothing to do with the rent, if you break the contract early then unless you have a nice landlord expect to be committed to the flat cost for the duration of the term.
